I Almost Signed Lookman For Leicester City — Rodgers

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he almost signed Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman for Leicester City.

Recall that the Nigerian international netted a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League Final on Wednesday.

In a chat with talkSPORT, Celtic boss Rodgers said that Lookman’s extra training has propelled him to the top.

“What a professional he is, how he looks after himself, the extra work he does in training.

“Those goals that he scored, he practices those after training. He’d always do extra finishing.

“His professionalism was unbelievable and the only sad part for us was at the end of that season, we had a clause where we could have bought him for £14 million.

“But if you think back to that summer we couldn’t sign any players and then one of my guys that I worked closely with here at Celtic and at Leicester was a guy called Lee Congerton and Lee was by then the general manager of Atalanta.

“When he knew that we weren’t able to take him, he took him then out to Atalanta and he’s done absolutely brilliant there.”

Uh oh here it comes, a lot of people claiming they couldve sign this person and that person. He was loaned out to fulham where scott parker wanted to play defensively and that team got relegated. The team barely scored. He was at leicester where he only came off the bench. Why would he sign up to come off the bench? I mean for atalanta he come of the bench too, but he starts more often. For the europa league cup I was not surprised Ademola started, the coach wanted to win the thing. He proven himself in serie a. Premier league is where Nigerians are at bottom of the table or relegated teams. The highest is fulham with Iwobi and Bassey at 13 place. Get real.
