Sacked Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri, had hoped to face Barcelona in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League tie with Victor Osimhen in the squad.
Osimhen was not in Napoli’s squad against Genoa at the weekend and the result proved to be disastrous for Mazzarri, who has now been sacked.
The Nigerian had been on international duty with Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 where they finished runners-up.

Slovakia’s Francesco Calzona has now been appointed on a six-month deal till the end of the season.
According to La Repubblica, via CN24, Mazzarri had wanted one last chance to prove himself.
“I was hoping to manage against Barcelona with Victor Osimhen on the pitch,” Mazzarri was quoted to have said.
Osimhen has made four appearances in this season’s Champions League, scoring one goal and has one assist.
Barcelona will go into Wednesday’s clash on the back of four wins in their last five (one defeat).
For Napoli, they have only managed just one win in their last five games, losing two and drawing two.
Also, Barcelona have won three of their last five ties with Napoli, with two ending in draws.

Osimhen that Peseiro has milked and elapsed his overall energy. For Super Eagles afcon players to start performing well without further injuries then they deserve an extended break after all the 90mins soaking pressure from all kind of physical African opponents. Walter’s sack like other average coaches is long overdue so his excuses is baseless.
