‘I Will Be Available For 2021 AFCON’  –Osimhen Assures

‘I Will Be Available For 2021 AFCON’  –Osimhen Assures

Victor Osimhen has assured that he will be available to represent Nigeria at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Completesports.com reports.

There have been doubts over the availability of Osimhen taking part at the AFCON after he suffered a facial injury during a Serie A fixture between Napoli and Inter Milan in November.

Osimhen suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone following a head collision with Inter’s Milan Skriniar.

He had to be substituted and rushed to hospital for proper examination before being operated upon.

Following the surgery, Napoli announced that Osimhen will be out of action for three months, which means he will not be at next year’s AFCON.

But he has since returned to light training and was seen in a picture published on Napoli’s Twitter handle putting on a protective face mask.

And in a statement on his Twitter handle, Osimhen said he will be in Cameroon for the competition unless he does not make the Super Eagles final squad.

“I will be available for AFCON💯unless if am not among the players picked to represent NIGERIA.”

This will surely be good news for Nigerian football fans especially following injuries to Oghenekaro Etebo and recently Paul Onuachu.

The Eagles will open their 2021 AFCON campaign against Egypt on January 11 before also facing Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.

We really need this guy to be able to do well at Afcon,I have been worried all these while ,when u look at our attack, apart from awoniyi,I don’t think there is any other good player there,it will take eguavon sometime to clean up the mess of genart rohr.the super eagles were poorly coached , eguavon should try and re introduce the Nigerian system of play, which is mostly 4-3-3 or 4-4:2 .keshi introduced 4-2-3-1 when the eagles were not doing well and thereafter , failed genart rohr came and hyjacked that formation and never let go.thank GOD he has gone finally,we will begin to see good footba again with osimehn back in full fitness.

  • I think Cyril dessers can easily do the job, He is more technical than awoniyi and his finishing ability is great,I would prefer Sadiq Umar to awoniyi because Sadiq is more expose in terms of international football than awoniyi,I could remember his performance in the Olympics,am afraid of awoniyi because sometimes he lacks consistency to perform this his is best season since he moved to Europe some years back,if you check their stats in terms of goals and assist in club level I think Sadiq is above awoniyi, eguavon should please give Sadiq a chance because he has alot to offer than awoniyi,

@Banky I prefer in this order fully fit Osihmen, Dessers, Dennis and Awoniyi. Sadiq Umar too loose on the ball those legelege movement is sometimes annoying when he mostly looses possession or bullied of the ball.

That’s chief for you, he’s more of a future teller than a Chief. I won’t be surprised should our SE eventually defeat the Pharaohs by 6 goals to nil. @Chief Thomas, how many goals is Osibobo going to score?

  • Ndubest 2 years ago

Boom! Boom!! Boom!!! Dia. You are welcome great guy, you are announcing yourself with the highest goal scorer in the forth coming nations cup.

This is great news indeed. As long as we’re sure he’s fully healed. If he’s not fully healed, he should please stay away and continue his recovery. It would be really unwise to aggravate the injury during the Afcon, leading to a longer lay off, and even worse, possible risk of life!
CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF.
    God bless.
