Idowu Joins Russian Club FC Khimki On Loan

Nigeria defender Brian Idowu has joined FC Khimki on a season-long loan deal from Locomotiv Moscow, reports Completesports.com.

FC Khimki finished in second position in the Russian second division last season and will play in the top-flight in the 2020/21 campaign.

Idowu has struggled for regular playing time since linking up with Locomotiv Moscow from another Russian club Amkar Perm in July 2018.

Last season, he featured in 12 league games for Locomotiv Moscow.

The 28-year-old has featured in 25 league games across two seasons at the club.

“The Reds and Blacks rented Locomotiv defender Brian Idowu. The loan agreement with the Nigerian defender is calculated until the end of the season,”reads a statement on FC Khimki’s official website.

“We welcome Brian to Khimki and wish him successful performances for our team.”

Idowu will look to make his debut for Khimki in today’s league clash against CSKA Moscow at the Rodina Stadium.

  • Another Good move to me due to the need for options in the Left Back and Left Wing back role. Idowu knows he needs to be playing regularly to also get International reckoning. Good to know FC Khimki will also be playing in the Russian top flight. It will be great to have Idowu back. Natural Left back options Collins, Sanusi, Idowu, Chima Okoroji(Hopefully)

  • We need a natural left footed left full back. Idowu in my own opinion isn’t the ideal left full back we need. I think we should try players like sanusi zaidu (santa clara) and bassey(rangers). Sanusi looks more ready having played top flight league football in portugal for sometime now, while bassey has been playing in youth leagues. But mind you, bassey will be a great left or full back if he maintains his discipline bcos i see alot of talent in him.
Jamilu collins has lost form for the National team and he is error prone, so I think another person should be given a chance
