Ighalo,  Musa  Axed ;  Onuachu,  Chukwueze Start For Super Eagles Vs Burundi

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has axed the duo of Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa from his starting line-up for the side’s opening Group B against the Swallows of Burundi, Completesports.com reports.

FC Midtjylland of Denmark forward Paul Onuachu will lead the team’s attack in the place of Ighalo against the debutants.

Alex Iwobi, who plays for English Premier League club, Arsenal will occupy the left -wing position.

Rohr has also handed starting berths to Samuel Chukwueze who will operate from the right-wing, while Ola Aina will take the place of the injured Jamilu Collins at left-back.

Daniel Akpeyi is the number one choice in goal with Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong as central defenders.

Skipper Mikel Obi will marshal the midfield along with Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo.

      I asked because the report mentioned Jamilu Collins as the I hired playe. And I do not think the guy was injured before the final list was released.

    I love this starting line up. It’s a joker. Ahmed musa and Ighalo are regulars. These guys mist have studied their patterns. They will come in as substitutes in the second half. We hope we can beat them 3 goals to nothing so we send signals to other members of the group. Go eagles.

  • Surprising line up. Guess Rohr must have studied tapes of burundi, we need pace weaken there defense. The midfield is compact already. I believe he went for Onuachu’s height to help with the tall burundi defenders
