Ighalo Undecided About Super Eagles Return

Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has said he has not made a final decision concerning a return to the Super Eagles.

Head coach Gernot Rohr told ESPN there is a possibility Ighalo could be included in the squad for next month’s final round of group stage games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.

“The final list is not made yet. But there is a chance to get him back. I put him in the bigger provisional list for the next games because he is very important with his experience and his goals and I hope he can come back, but we will see. He has still ambition to help his country.”

Also, NFF president Amaju Pinnick revealed in an Instagram post that the former Manchester United star could make a return to the Eagles.

Ighalo has now said he is yet to decide despite being contacted by both officials.

“They have been in contact with me about the possibility of coming back, Amaju and coach,” Ighalo told ESPN.

“I don’t know. I have not said yes or no. I haven’t made any decision concerning the national team.”

It would be recalled that in March, Ighalo said he was considering coming out of international retirement and would make a decision, but in June he said in an interview he saw no need to come back with the team’s young players doing well.

The former Watford player has been in impressive scoring form for Saudi Arabia top flight club Al Shabab after netting eight goals in nine league appearances.

Pls remain “undecided” Sir, until after Qatar 2022, lol…….we have tons and tons of talent scattered in your coveted position.

You’ve done your bit already… biko Zukwanike (like we say in local parlance)

    • Exactly Bros This guy needs to rest he has does his service. Does he really think he can give more than Osimhen and Iheanacho or Awoniyi?.. If so why did Manchester United let him go?

Ighalo I hope you are reading this. Leave this team alone and allow our younger boys grow. You had your opportunity allow others theirs. Biko

    • @ Richie he is just pretending to be undecided……he is the one bank rolling this whole come back madness…….Do you think Pinnick and coach rhor are stupid enough not to know that the guy has passed his prime and can no longer compete at the highest level?….. Nigeria na Cruise

@Akp Hahahaha…… I don’t doubt the possibility of the truth in that bro LOL.

FOR YOU NOT DISGRACE YOURSELF, YOU BETTER STAY OUT OF SUPER EAGLE. YOU HAVE DONE YOUR BIT.
IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT 99 PERCENT OF NIGERIA DOESN’T WANT YOU ANYMORE. WHAT VALUE YOU WANT TO ADD TO THE TEAM AGAIN. WE HAVE OSIMHEN,DESSERS,MOFFI,ONYEKURU. YOU TOO, YOU KNOW THAT SINCE YOUR RETIREMENT, NOBODY MISSED YOU. IN THE HISTORY OF SUPER EAGLE, WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCE ARRAY OF STRIKERS THAT ARE DOING WELL LIKE THIS BEFORE. IT IS BETTER FOR SOMEONE TO QUIT WHEN THE OVATION IS LOUD.
PLEASE STAY OUT OF SUPER EAGLE !!!

What’s he coming to do again? Don’t come and spoil your reputation. At what age?
We have up to 7good young strikers at present, even if you are Lukaku we don’t need you now please don’t leasten to the clueless coach we have.

Ighalo should stop fooling around and he needs stop this unnecessary distraction at this sensitive time.
Ighalo, Roar, and Picnic are not sincere with themselves. It is clear that these three have a plan and everything will soon be clear.Roar is a weak coach and that is evident in some matches where Ighalo was trying to mastermind his way into the field as a substitute. Already, we have Osi, Awo, Nacho, Sadiq, Moffi, Onuachu .
On current form, Ihako is not better than Odey, Akpom or Adeyinka

  • Hehehe. Guy wants to test the pulse of fans before making a final call on the invite. You can’t blame him after all the backlash received post-Russia 2018 and his wife worsening matters by deciding to reply some of the trolls.

Ighalo’s invitation has sharply divided fans into 2 groups. As for me, I wouldn’t mind any extra arsenal to improve the bark and bite of the team. My mantra is good, better, best. Don’t rest until your good is better and your better best. Let’s remember Sweden’s Ibrahamovic, Cameroun’s Roger Milla etc had to reverse their retirements to power their team through qualifications and stellar performance at the tournament proper

Osimhen is hot, but is he the same TYPE of player as Ighalo? Osimhen shoots and heads with feocity, Ighalo shields the balls and maneuvers to create better shooting chances for himself. Onuachu is lanky and packs a real punch on his right foot for long distance goals – although often short on stamina. Awoniyi is good at lurking in the 18 yard with a big frame to power through on goal and ward off defenders.

We all need these propositions, brothers. The better, the merrier. And oh yes, Ighalo is the most experienced of the attacking department. I just wish Moses could turn up too. He’s usually a handful for opposing defenders, slicing through the wings and laying juicy passed to strikers – compared to successors. Musa scored against Iceland, but Moses was the architect.

What Nigerians really want, as if the know what they want. If Ighalo comes back and may be he score a goal that hands Nigeria trophy, the song will change, it will become I know he will do well. He shouldn’t disgrace himself as if you have regard for him before, let him come and disgrace himself no problem

    • Jide Dola 2 years ago

God bless you exactly what I am thinking

  • @Kels please bro use sense

“Let’s remember Abtahamovic, Roger Milla etc had to reverse their retirements to power their team through qualifications and stellar performance at the tournament proper”.

Stop making points if you don’t know dynamics.

When teams get old experienced heads back it is because?

    1. They do not have adequete Cover in that position
    2. Those players have a lot to offer and are still the best in that position.

In Ighalo’s case based on the 2 points .HE IS NOT NEEDED>

However in Victor Moses Case. What is your take?.

Please people if you love this team stop supporting this Ighalo move, it will only cause more damage than good. This move has bribery and corruption written all over it. rather we should band together and call Rohr’s attention to Vic Moses and Emma Dennis.

A word is enough for the wise.

    • A player looses his competing advantage when you move from a high performance league to a league where you are not challenged. Even if you were the best before. This is the issue with Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo. This was also the issue with our past Super Eagles players. That advantage you have to compete and be creative reduces by 80%, because you are no longer challenged to be creative in your play. This is the reason why Victor Moses should be recalled and other players who desire growth over money. When you grow as a player in your abilities, you will be the desire of many big clubs. Not when you increase your desire to be a huge salary earner and reduce your quality. This is why Osimhen, Nacho, Awoniyi, Ejike and the other top performers in this team should be taken to the AFCON and the World Cup

    • @Ugo, what do you think justifies an invitation to retired Moses but not to a retired Ighalo as well? Why shouldn’t he be extended the same hand, after all Moses retired earlier.

      As per your criteria below…

“1. They do not have adequete Cover in that position.”

Tell me which current striker had the experience and playing style of Ighalo. Who among them dribbles to score? Who among them knows how to shield the ball and properly disposes defenders. Ighalo doesn’t have the stubbornness of Osimhen or the big frame of Awoniyi, but he’s more experienced and rarely finishes a game without a goal in SE colours.

Remember the other recent time we were embarrassed at home to SA, he wasn’t on duty. It was handed to Iheanacho who was toothless on the day.

“2. Those players have a lot to offer and are still the best in that position.”

Yes, we have youth, but we also need old, experience legs. The mix is better that way. It was experience that caused the talented bunch of 1994 to crash to Italy in the 2nd round. A more experienced team would have properly managed the game with wasteful plays at corner side, feigning injuries and delays.

We need Ighalo. We need Moses

      • Some people don’t have 3rd eye ..Cote de voire Egypt Cameron Algeria Ghana will clip this small super chicken wings without experience guys. Better bring dem in now to fight for shirt against Liberia and Cape Verde. …..the coach knows this.hence he recall … Can u see Moses quick run and turn in the box .who does that in the chickens now .all running and running because they are young.abeg let the coach do his job . Sadiq too is needed. Ejuke to play more in 10. ..

      • @Kel Osimhen is far better than Ighalo at Hold up play Dribbling past players etc. also He is playing with notoriously the most Rugged Defenders in the World in Italy week in week out.. from your comment you clearly don’t foloow Nigerian players abroad. I will not tell you but rather I will show you another player who is currently far Better than Ighalo at Hold up play.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTPOJNhoA-I

  • The truth of the matter is that many fans do not want to see in Super Eagles colours again because quite frankly, they are itching to see what the younger prospects (like Awoniyi and Co who are pulling up trees in club football) have to offer.

Also, many (including myself) were never really sold on Ighalo’s style of centre forward play even when he was red hot for the Super Eagles in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers and the Afcon proper. I never really formed an emotional bond with how he dispenses his play as he left me with few quotable finishes despite his high numbers. But I still respect and value what he did more so in 2018/2019.

Regarding returning to the Super Eagles, the thinking is that this would stunt the national team development of young vibrant and vivacious strikers like Awoniyi, Umar, Moffi and maybe even Osimhen (as the need to substitute in-game for Ighalo would arise).

These younger strikers appear to play the sort of football that evokes a frisson of excitement. Their pace, dribbles, exuberance, unpredictability and drive blow fans away and help meet expectations of seeing a rapid fire brand of centre forward play.

Not that Ighalo doesn’t possess these qualities but in truth, fans have just seen enough of him and are eager to open the page to newer strikers with hunger and a sense of something to prove.

But, having listened to Rohr’s interview with the presenter at Elegbete radio station this week, I couldn’t help but notice the passion in which Rohr spoke of Ighalo. The German gaffer (still) holds Ighalo in high esteem and sees him as integral to what he still wants to achieve with Nigeria.

“[Victor] Osimhen is our No 1 striker, but there is none like Ighalo, he’s different, he’s a special player, he smells football. We have many young players who could learn a lot playing alongside such a great player, ” said coach Gernot Rohr.

    Wow!

I was blown away by that statement and the passionate tone in which Rohr expressed it. Because of that, it would not worry me in the slightest if Ighalo rescinds and returns to the Super Eagles.

Sadly, it will mean waiting a bit longer for other younger spry strikers to come through. However it will also mean that Rohr has his man; someone he is invested in and someone he passionately believes can make a difference in the dressing room and in the field of play.

I just wish Ighalo wouldn’t hum-and-haw on the matter. He should come out and make his position (and decision) crystal clear so we can move on to other matters.

It is true: younger strikers still have a lot to learn. Having a vastly experienced Ighalo around in the truly crunch moments might not be such a bad idea in Nigeria’s quest for greatness after all!

  • @Deo In as much as I like Your points, Rohr also speaks the same of Musa and we all see what he has brought and the result so I am still not convinced by Ighalo, also There is no way Dennis is supposed to be still overlooked for Musa.

The truth is maybe Nigeria and Nigerians do not understand the type of quality we possess right now and maybe most have not taken time to process what these boys are currently doing right now.

We have a player Awonyi is competing with Robert Lewondski and Erling Haaland for the Golden boots in Germany and this is a player that is second to our Main Number 9 Victor Osimhen a player who a whole Bayern Munich is prepared to fork out 100 mil to secure his services. Since I have been alive and even when Nigeria was at its peak and ranked no 5 in the world we did not Have players of this players profile commanding starting roles in their clubs. does Nigeria understand that what we have been praying for and wishing for all these years is starring us right in the face and Pinnick and Rohr are threathing to take that away from us. All we wanted were committed players who were commanding starting roles in top teams in the best clubs in the world not warming the bench. God didn’t just give us that he gave us players who are being seen as the KEY players in Big Clubs in the world. in the past Kanu achieved that in Ajax but later in Arsenal he lost his place to Henry. Osimhen is been seen as the Henry of Napoli. Do Nigerians understand the depth we have??..

Even if we look at the past Ighalo and Co I.e Musa come from the class that chose Money over Fame, Reputation and star status. Ighalo choosing to go to china for Money from Watford when United wanted him in his Prime later realising his mistake and coming back to Man United sadly it was to late as he had past his prime. Musa the same and I could go on. Where as if you look at a Victor Moses he always put his growth and career First over money. Frankly speaking, Victor Moses is the kind of player I would want around the younger ones not the likes of Ighalo and Musa because of their track record of choosing money over growth in their careers compared to Vic Moses Dicipline and commitment to his career. I mean most would have gave up after Conte left Chelsea and Moses also followed suite instead Moses is a fighter and and is now a star again, I mean the guy is carrying Spartak Moscow on his back. He has a lot to offer and Can bring more that Moses Simon and Smauel Kalu ,even Alex Iwobi.

Personally all these Ighalo Shinanigans would have made more sense had we not been blessed with the likes of Osimhen and Awoniyi in that Position. If all of this was taking place 3 years ago then it would have made more sense.

    • More importantly Vic Moses is still Playing at the Higest Level Week in Week out in the Europa League as well he has a lot more to offer this team than Ighalo.

I personally would be extremely gutted for instance if Awoniyi has to be the scape goat for Ighalo. even Onuachu for that matter because he can gice more than Ighalo.

Dennis also been frozen out of the team for the Likes of Musa I mean this is ubsurd. Rohr as the National team coach cannot tell me, he is not seeing what Nigerians are seeing Victor Moses doing and this is a player that can offer more than atleast 3 of Rohrs current Choice in that position, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon and Ahmed Musa. not to mention his versatility

Infact Moses Position over Musa in SE in the past shows that It would not be an Eye brow raising situation if Rohr had to Use the Captains Armband as a tool to lure Moses back to the team. Because History shows us that in SE Moses has always Been a more imfleuntial player than Musa in SE and, is indeed more senior than Musa in the team and should command more respect. not to mention (crosses) what Vic Moses can Possibly bring to the team as opposed to Musa. Rohr should actually using the Armband to lure Vic Moses back, Vic Moses deserves to be captain of this team in Hind sight.

  • FORMAT……I am undecided my **s…..Tell me you are not the one pulling the strings in the background……Tell me money has not exchanged hands…….This people think we are fools or what?…….My own is don’t come here tomorrow and start crying that they threatened you and your family because this time around you and your family will be hunted down like dogs……. LOL..If it backfires for Ighalo AGAIN @ Qatar 2022 (after what happened vs Argentina @ Russia 2018), I just pray he doesn’t receive the type of Colombian “Escobar” treatment from USA ’94…lol…Well, let’s keep preaching no-violence in sport though LOL

Odion, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE SUPER EAGLES !

  • This is the opportunity these current crop of Super Eagles players have to improve themselves, at the AFCON and World Cup. We have heard the excuses of “Young Team”, over the years. Now they are commanding shirts in their teams, week In, week out. You make good tomatoes bad by adding rotten tomatoes to the mix. Musa and Ighalo out, Victor Moses in. Even if a partnership and understanding needs to be built with Victor Moses and Chukwueze on the wings and Osimhen in attack, it has to be done now. Not Ighalo.

It’s appalling to see how some people just trash talk with ignorance of the facts. The truth be told, super eagles lost two rare gems of a baller in Victor and Ighalo. As for Ighalo “Pride comes before the fall of a man” Stay humble. You are always loved and appreciated by the silent majority. Haters must hate. God bless Super Eagles.

    • @Oga QuestZone. Trash talk abi? It’s obvious you don’t know football, when Odion Ighalo was still playing his best last club was Watford. Yes, he moved to Shanghai Shenhua only to return to Man Utd. If he had stayed in Man Utd and still fought for a shirt, you think I won’t be the first one to campaign for his introduction. No logic to your thinking. Just open your mouth and waaah comes out. Which country today will recall a player who is playing in the Saudi League based on past performance. Even Brazil ignores their players playing in China. The teams that do well in World football go and look properly where their players are playing. Tell me whether you will see anyone is Saudi Arabian league there.

      • That’s the mistake few of you often make, experience goes along way in competition of this nature, exactly why many people want Ighalo Odion to spare head the team. No need to be shouting.

  • I’m reading somewhere now that Rohr has already included Ighalo’s name on the list for the Liberia/Cape Verde matches next week. List should be out anytime from tomorrow.

Rohr & Pinnick obviously don’t want to toy with the remaining 6 points up for grabs as all the other 3 teams are hot on their heels, waiting on the wings to pounce on any dropped points.

ALL HANDS ON DECK. ALL ON BOARD, READY TO SAIL TO THE SECOND ROUND FOR QATAR.

What I did was to quickly place a call through to Marcelo Housemann. Housemann is not known to many which I believed is to a certain extent some comments are what they seem Though he hasn’t heard a word from Coach Rohr yet, I would employ Rohr whom I think is reading my comment to urgently open communication with the tactician. He will tell him how best to have the much talked about striker, Odion to the squad. The decision to once again represent his country, Nigeria is entirely Odion’s to make anyway.

Having gone through the comments and recalling the fact that the tone of some them are bile related, but I could decode that many are a bit confused as to how Odion would play along side Victor Osimen. What will happen in 2022 AFCON is this, Osimhen will be given responsibility to play as top striker (no9), while Odion will play as supporting striker(no8), running deep from the MD, creating spaces for the wingers on the sides while at the same time freeing Osimhen upfront and also having the clearance to get behind the back line at will. With this arrangement and coupled with the football artistry these two would bring to bare, this is sure to trouble the back line of any opposing defence.

Apparently, coach Rohr in his wisdom is doing everything possible to have Odion in the Afcon2022 team and Odion on his own should be ready to make sacrifice, history as one of those retired Africa strikers (remember Roger Milla’s exploit in Italy’90) and few others.

Now that CAF has increased the numbers of players of participating countries due to covid-19 relatively, it calls for inclusion of veterans and experienced hands to guarantee success at the tournament.

  • Since it is his fatherland and no other that wants him, Odion Ighalo has no option than to accept to play for his beloved country. I Would prefer Him to that one patsin dakka is benching at foxes. Don’t say I didn’t tell you, coachie.

    • Please be specific as to what player you are referring to and I really hope you are not using the Carabao cup as a Guage for your misguided assessment. I Also thought the same however Iheanacho played all but 90mins against Brentford Over the weekend and will probably get the nod this weekend too. Also Lookman scored so he may be back in Rodgers sights stop speaking to soon. There really is no Room for Ighalo and Musa with the array of names I keep dishing out. All higher than Ighlao and Musa level.

Success, Lookman Iheanacho, Chukwueze, Moffi Awoniyi, Dennis these are guys playing week in Week out. Just another example of the calibre. Chukwueze has been injured for months he returns and walks back Into a Villareal Villareal team that is competing and playing Champions league now. Not to mention scoring on his first kick in his first game since Injury. Ighalo and Musa are just trying to punch above their weight with this current crop of young stars we have.

  • @Oseodion Inegbenebor What role does Kelechi Iheanacho perform at Leciester City to the point that Brendon Rogers speaks so highly of him the role you are emplying that Ighalo should come take??, from a player who score 2 brilliant goals against Liberia. We say again Ighalo is not needed there are two many quality players ahead of him currently in SE, in any case and any position. And this getting used to 28 players is nonsensical it will not be the same come World Cup. Rather we get guys like Success, Moffi, you name it, the point we have been singing is, we have many players better than Ighalo

We certainly can’t be referring to Ighalo being better than Iheanacho, plays so easily with Either Vardy or Daka in the role you want us to give to Ighalo???????

Here is a world class Coach Brendon Rogers take on how Iheanacho performs that role

    • Oseodion Inegbenebor 2 years ago

We say.. How many of you saying? My point is clear, it is at Odion’s volition to accept the offer to once again play for Nigeria. Remember he was the highest goal scorer in the last AFCON and have recently been mobile in his club assignments. I think instead of being sentimental, the very best in terms of quality are experience should represent Nigeria. That’s what everyone should be advancing. We are talking about continental show piece and its importance.

  • Biedure 2 years ago

I learnt some churches are already holding night vigil to beg Odion to play. And even now, it is a long time our country won caf cup.

  • walking 2 years ago

The only person I dislike or let me say his style of play is moses Simon.

Ighalo’ inclusion is a waste of space. A replica and a more agile young lad like ighalo is Awoniyi.

I’m beginning to see reasons why some have been clamouring for the exit door for the German born coach.

What is needed are corner kick technicalities, permanent free kick and corner kick takers, a creative 10.

I just believe rohr is not putting first thing first

  • @Ugo Uwunze, C’mon stop lying. Will you? Against Brentford, Iheanacho was introduced in the 72mins of the game. He has been playing for few minutes since dakka. He came in for Lookman. You can now see that even a sleeping Odion is better than any striker on the Nigeria’s bench.

    • At Temi I do not lie I follow Ball and Nigerian players Ighalo is not even a fraction close to Iheanacho’s level

      https://www.skysports.com/football/brentford-vs-leicester-city/teams/446369

    • @Temi let me keep you updated. On the goings on. Also some one mentioned Ighalo should come In and take Iheanacho’s position in SE, the reason Iheanacho is almost the first player on Rodgers list besides his form and obvious ability is this link up play with the midfield and either Daka or Vardy, something that someone ubsurdly suggested that Ighalo upon his slower pace can do better than Iheanacho who is pushing his team to the top four in the Premier League.

Also here is the predicted line up for Leciester City Vs Arsenal

      https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leicester-city-predicted-team-arsenal-6129760

      • Guy I don’t think I’ve met anyone who enjoys embarrassing himself like you. Iheanacho is the first name on Rodgers list? Are you okay? Iheanacho has not even started up to four matches this season in premier league….when Vardy gets fit,it will shock you that Rodgers would Start{Vardy===Daka(in a 3-5-2}line up or {Harvey Barnes == Vardy==Lookman (in a 4-3-3)} Esp now maddison seems to be back to his old self….you are an utter embarrassment old man.

    • @Temi Again The fact that Iheancho is selected to play 90mins In the Premier League and Europa league which are Leciester Cities Priorities speaks volumes the Carabao cup is where Leicester Fields Fringe players.

Iheanacho is doing what a lot of Nigerians before him couldn’t here is guy who finished last season strongly Winning the FA cup for Leicester a cup they hadn’t since the 50’s you people forget so soon. Then at the start of the season he had to prove his worth all over again as Rodgers had a bit of Sentiment towards Harvey Barnes, fast forward a few months later and Iheancho has reclaimed his spot in the team and Harvey Barnes is currently warming the bench. This is the character of the players we currently have.

Another point the last Afcon remember Iheanacho did not make it because he was not in form and we all were waiting for him to hit the form he is currently on and willl surely God willing surpass and you guys are calling for Ighalo? when God has answered our prayers and we have gained a 100% improved versions of all of Osimhen, Iheanacho and Awoniyi. I mean all of them are hitting the form we knew and wished they would and evil agents are trying to do the unthinkable. Nawao

  • @Temi, a sleeping Odion Ighalo is not better because he is sleeping. That is how we have been recalling old legs into the Super Eagles because of fear of failure. Instead of giving other players the opportunity to rise up to the challenge. Let’s us give these young boys a challenge for them to rise up to. Not destroy their ego by introducing an old war horse

    • I think I understand now, what the majority are saying is that Igalo Odion will come with experience in a competition like afcon. He needs to be persuaded to play, that is the truth. Odion is humble and he plays for the entire team, he scores too. You don’t need to argue for the sake of it.

    • You avoided the lie therein and only talked about Igalo Odion.

  • Which young team? thought some of you used to complain whenever the coach call his team young now you just realise the team has been parading young boys which you want to allow to grow. This is why we have always say to you to allow professional to do his job not to come here and comments trash that can not go beyond completesports page here. All this noise about Ighalo recall or not is meaningless because those saddled with the responsibility has the right to invite whoever deems fit to his team at any time so, you guys should just continue to wailing till you tire…

    • I meant young boys not young team, mind you there is a difference. Plus there are other ways to get our opinions across. I won’t mention them, but I know of one very effective one that Amaju Pinnick uses himself. I will still stand, we have a blessed generation of young players playing at the highest level. No Super Eagles generation was blessed as much as this lot are. Let’s remove sentiments, I understand what Rhor and Pinnick are trying to do, but it is detrimental to the performance of this current team. It just shows that Pinnick and Rhor cannot build the confidence of this team. Even though in the history of NFF too, we have never had a passionate President as Pinnick. The rest were just filling up their pockets

  • When Luis Enrique returned as head coach, his message with his selections was clear: he wants young players with speed and talent.

With the right tactics and philosophy let’s forgets all this stories. Eagles players are ballers mehn.

Bcos erique is playing young players in his team everybody must do that, do you know his reason, what if he tells you that he’s not after winning trophies now he’s just building for the future. What if he do that and he fail, bcos he’s coaching Spain means everything he’s doing is right or what. People strategize and re-strategize, you do what works for you or what you know it can earn you result. He know what he sees and he has his reasons, the same thing with Rohr. He’s the handler he knows what he want like Enrique knows what he want. He said he needs experience in his team respect it is his option, he’s the coach, he knows the players more than any of us.

AM THE FAN OF GERNOT ROHR DUE TO THE WAY HE ALWAYS DISCOVERED FOREIGNERS & NEW YOUNG PLAYERS FOR SUPER EAGLE. BUT WITH THIS CURRENT NEWS, IF YOU MISTAKENLY INVITE IGHALO, INFACT THIS HAS REALLY SHOWS THAT YOU ARE A WEAK COACH TECHNICALLY, MENTALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY. AND THIS TIME AROUND YOU WILL FAIL WOEFULLY WITH SUPER EAGLE.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND, IS IT STRIKER BE YOUR PROBLEM ??????????

what happened at Balogun Stadium in the last game? These young players could not even score against the armatures from Congo. These young players are still learning playing the African armatures from Liberia or somewhere else. The stakeholders are concerned that these African armatures could very well embarrass the Nation. That is why they are reaching out for an experienced players like Ighalo who has seen it all. Osimhen just hasn’t got the experience of scoring goals against these African players with the way they pack Buses. Osimhen said herself that he is still learning and it will be an honor for him to play along with his hero, Ighalo. Lets the coach do his work for which he is being paid for to do. If the coach thinks Ighalo can help him achieve his objectives, who are we to say no, If he fail, l am the first one to kick his ass. Please, don’t abuse Ighalo or Musa for what they have achieved for Nigeria. To Ighalo and family, don’t be put off by those who say negative things about you here or there. There are million of Nigerians around the World who loves you to dealt and want you to come to help your Nation whenever you are called to duty. Ighalo, you have got “money & fame” like no Nigerian ever had. Come to help whenever you are called for. We know, as a devoted follower of Christ, you will make a different.

  • But has the same Luis Enrique won anything yet? The Spanish team has been to like 3 competitions under him which they couldn’t win anything. Infact they just lost a final and also in their world cup qualification group they have had ups and downs as well. Does Eagles have the kind of players in their team? Don’t tell me Oshimen is the hottest player scoring for fun in Italy they too had players playing in first team of best the club in top 5 countries. Let’s have a rest the team is truly young as the coach said and he is trying to balance it up by having some experience player to pshyche them up on and off the pitch. He has said it this may not necessarily means Ighalo starting the team matches but serving as a morale booster together with Musa to those young boys.

I miss this, buh for anybody that cares, he should go and see highlights of super eagles two legs of 2019 AFCON qualifier against Libya which was 13th Oct, 2018 and tell me if Ighalo didn’t bring something different from Osimhen and Awoniyi to the table especially that last goal of the 2nd leg. Ighalo is a more of treat to defence than Onuachu and I will say take it or leave it Osimhen, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Ighalo are our best trikers, no doubt Osimhen is the first choice, Iheanacho can form partnership with any of them. Any of these guys on the pitch is a turn in the flesh of any defence. Like I said when pple were talking down Iwobi whenever he play number 10 role, I said is better Iwobi is there if he’s not there you will understand what we are talking about and his little importance showed in the last two matches due to his absence, you will see it in that match against Libya, I just picked that one match to use it to contemplate our reasoning, what I need from him is for him to up his game so that he can be playing regularly in his club, he has little of those qualities all he need to do is to sharpen it, dribbling, passes, quickness(sharpness), awareness and ability to score goals

    • I have to agree with the notion that Ighalo can offer more than Onuachu maybe you may have a point there.

I am not too concerned of AFCON as apparently we can take 28 players

But come World Cup we have to get things right in selection.. if Ighalo goes then Onuachu (pending on his form come the end of this Season) can be dropped. However, Musa has to be dropped and Emma Dennis should be drafted in and Victor Moses coming out of retirement should be top Priority for SE the wealth of Talent and experience he brings could be that spark this team has been missing and is crying for. Imagine How much he , Chukweze and chidera will feed off and learn from each other, mind you Alex Iwobi also has to come in some where…The jury should also be out on Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu as Isaac Success should also be in contention so too Ademola Lookman. If you think about it Rohr has way too much Talent to be concerned with Ighalo and Musa in all honesty

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

What is wrong with people like you? @Jide Deola? That was 2019 not 2021! You don’t tell me Ighalo at afcon 2019 is still in that same form now. If footballers are judged by their previous form then we should also bring back Mikel, Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo

The Super Eagles fumbled in Lagos against Liberia despite the inclusion of the young talents including Awoniyi, Ihenacho, & co.

The coach played our young lads in Lagos against Liberia and he saw some gaps , let us allow him to fill the gaps of the young lads, by inviting more experienced players.
He knows what he is doing, and we will measure his performance by the results and not by the age of Ighalo or by any flimsy criteria.

Let us allow coach Rohr to do his job. He is the one in charge as coach.
He qualified us for 3 major tournament without the calculators. He is an experienced coach and knows the demands and the expectations of the job far more than the critics.

If messi 34, ronaldo 36, cavani37 ,Suarez 34 are all in their national team I see no reason why ighalo who is 32 can’t still be drafted into the Super Eagles squad.
Besides he is in great form for his club and he is a prolific scorer for super eagles who was the highest goal scorer in the last AFCON.

We have 2 important matches ahead and if we succeed, we will be going to the next stage of world cup qualifiers where we will meet any of Algeria, Egypt, Senegal , Morocco, Tunisia, Cameroon/Cote d’voire, Ghana/South Africa, etc and these matches are crucial and it is the responsibility of the coach to navigate successfully and qualify for the world cup with well articulated strategies.

Ighalo is a brilliant addition. He can bully defenders something our present young attackers have not put on show since the qualifiers.

Beside how old is Ighalo? Some one that just left Manchester united. He deserves more respect from us.
Drogba retired 35 , KANU 35, Eto 36 from their national team and Ighalo is just 32 . Yes he is 4 years younger than Ronaldo and he is still scoring goals.

Roger Miller achieved international stardom at 38 years old in the world cup, by scoring four goals at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and thus becoming the oldest goalscorer in World Cup history.
He helped Cameroon become the first African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
Four years later, at the age of 42, Roger Milla broke his own record as the oldest goalscorer in World Cup by scoring against Russia in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
In 2007, the CAF named Roger Milla the best African player of the previous 50 years.

Igholo with his experience and current form can add great value and fill the gaps we have in Super Eagles.

Who knows, he can be instrumental for the Super Eagles to become the first African team to reach the semifinals of the world cup, a fist not yet achieved by any African team

  • @Temi when I say most of yoy don’t actually follow ball you thought I was lying I no about 70% on CSN are not up to speed with what we have the Star studded X Factor players we have. Bros Iheanacho is the first name on Rodgers list these days.

I don’t comment for the sake of commenting I live and breathe Super Eagles and I hate to see what Rohr and Pinnick are doing.

    • How can you call it a failure when Iheanacho scored 2 goals against Liberia, Osimhen scored a goal against Cape Verde and almost scored 2 goals in the return leg against CAR. Also in the same game Chidera showed so much promise. The game against Cape Verde About 9 Englished based players had to leave because of covid restrictions, Iheancaho Ndidi and Co. That was on the back of Iheanachos 2 goals against Liberia. Now Chukwueze is back. If anything he could be the reason we have been struggling. How do you people actually view the game are you this blind not to see the depth in this squad is way above Ighalo. Now Lookman may also join up. And he just scored a goal and put himself back in contention again evem though his lack of game time is not any fault of his, it is only down to the INCREDIBLE form of Iheanacho, Vardy and Daka.

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS CALLING ON IGHALO FOR AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!???

      • Jones 2 years ago

Experience is vital in afcon. Most of those younger lads don’t have it. But I can assure you, they with Odion will be in Cameroon. The SE needs Odion’s experience to go far in the tournament

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

@Jude you and I know an African man’s 32 is equivalent to 42. Stop comparing his age to those that used their real ages. This super eagles team does not need Ighalo. I believe Rohr in his mind does not want Ighalo but has being influenced by Pinnnik. Now it’s all clear while he does not complain even when he’s been owed salaries. Amaju has really hit a jackpot getting a foreign coach that dances to his tune

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

If Mr. Rohr can not see anything good in Dessers, Awoniyi, Osimeh, Kayode, Onuachu and Dennis except to bring Ighalo back into the Super Eagles then the gaffer have nothing to do with our national team.

It is a shame to see things happening like this. It seems like we don’t have people in the top to speak to the Nigeria football Federation. Amaju is passing his boundary.

The team is missing a play maker not a striker.

So, the coach can not do anything without having Ighalo in the team? This is what am talking about our analog coaches. They are outdated and we have to go for digital.

Still, the coach is not getting the message. How can our strikers score goals if there’s no play maker in the team?

Is it possible to eat without drinking?

    Abomination mani yęn kę.

We have what is missing in the team but the coach doesn’t know what to do because he have no clue. NFF and this our world class coach are doing a shabby business in the Super Eagles but it will backfire soon if cares is not taken.

If am talking now, the government officials on this platform will come out with their excuses, you hate the gaffer too much, the gaffer is the best for Nigeria bla bla bla as if he’s the only coach on earth to manage our darling Super Eagles.

You are telling other strikers in the team that they are not good enough. Without Ighalo your messiah, the team can not do anything.

Ah bia, I don’t want to hear any story ooo.

As I said before, this coach will keep deceiving Nigerians by having a sexy team but to use the team to win something, I don’t see that happening.

If you don’t believe me, we can add another ten years to the five years he spent already, he do not have what it takes to build a team for us.

Before you attack me today please do yourself a favor to go and watch the highlights of Nigeria vs Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Cape Verde and CAR then, if you don’t see anything wrong in that our world best coach, no hope for Super Eagles.

However, for you Oga Rohr followers, I know you all so well. Kai, if Super Eagles fail to qualify to the world cup hmmm, till then.

Amaju, Oga Rohr and his deciples should be ready. This time around, we won’t take it easy with you people.

Ómótoni parent ohun koni sleep, that pikin fun ra ę koni fojukan o run. No more no less. Fingers crossed. Ighalo should not come back period. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Jones 2 years ago

Fool, shut up. Your so-called younger lads will peel in their pants when faced with defenders like Mahmoud Hamdi of Egypt, Abdou Diallo of Senegal and let’s even come closer home, Jonathan Mensah of Ghana. Odion’s presence is defenders nightmare any day.
Without Odion’s experience, SE will not go far.

Ighalo, please don’t come back. No need to come and play for this thankless bunch of Nigerian fans. Fools!
You have made your money and you can take care of your family. Stay away and remain in peace!

Awoniyi, Dennis, Moffi, Sadiq, Onyekuru ,Dessers- these players can even lay a claim to getting some regular call up.

Bros take your time o. No talk say I no warn you o .

I THINK ROHR COULS SENSE THAT HIS DISMISSAL AS EAGLES COACH IS IMMINENT,THAT IS WHY HE IS LOOKING AT ALWAYS TO BRING BACK THE OLDIES THAT HE FEELS WOULD IMPROVE THE TEAM. NFF KNEW THE BEST THING FOR EAGLES IS TO SACK ROHR BUT FOR THEIR SELFISH INTEREST AND PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE CLAUSE IN THE CONTRACT THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING BUT I KNOW ROHR WILL NOT TAKE US TO THE WORLD CUP . I HONESTLY DO NOT SEE ROHR PERFORMING AT THE NATIONS CUP.HE LACKS IDEA OF WHAT TO DO WITH EAGLES .

  • Emeka 2 years ago

Oseodion Inegbenebor: So, you want Odion Ighalo to take no8 jersey from Iheanacho, that is the last we will accept. Nacho is a young footballer, the beast and better to Odion Ighalo. Rohr please do not listen to Oseodion at all. Ndidi, Nacho, Ejuke, Onyeka, must play for afcon, period!

  • DaveK 2 years ago

I don’t understand the way we think at times. The man in charge of the team wants Ighalo back. Is this meant to be our headache? All I want is good results. Who plays or not is for the coach to decide. We all want to be the fan and coach at the same time . Na wa o.

  • Stop using the name of victor Moses in this plot…… Victor Moses has dismissed the rumors and backed the younger generation of SE players to Excell……. Victor Moses is a honorable professional with integrity not Ighalo who demands from his coach on national TV to be brought into a match………Who does that?…..Why are we even having this conversation at all?…….who knows Ighalo before 2018?….A player who broke into the national team in his late twenties (football age) is now holding a whole national team to ransom……..What did he win for SE?……The day I saw Ighalo asking Rhor to be brought into a match I mean I knew something was wrong deep inside me…….I mean the guy looked into his coach’s eyes and demanded to enter the match like seriously?…….Ighalo you better allow the young team fail and learn from their failure…….their failure has qualified us for Afcon without you…….Their failure has made us to be topping the WC qualifiers group without you……A child learning how to walk must fall severally before he become a veteran…….A word is enough for the wise…….If Ighalo goes ahead and carry out this his plot then he should be ready to dance the dance when the music starts.

    • Emeka 2 years ago

Akp: You are very right and Rohr must not do that. Rohr please do not listen to Oseodion Inegbenebor at all. Ndidi, Nacho, Ejuke, Onuachu and Onyeka, must play for afcon, period! These lads play 90 minutes for EPL and scoring many goals. Odion Ighalo is old player and only want to snatch Iheanacho jersey.

  • Ikenna 2 years ago

@Akp, infact, Rogers is using Iheanacho full 90 mins, it means he is very good and always give assist to his players…. Odion must get away from SE otherwise the zoo must fall. Is our prayers.

Rhor or roar go and watch today match between feyenoord vs sparta Rotterdam where dessers scored the only goal beating maduka okoye in the process. We need osimihen, awoniyi, moffi, ihenacho, onuachu and dessers not ighalo.

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

I’m happy that Dessers scored but that goal that Okoye conceded could have been saved…but 2 Nigerians winning at the end of the day. Atleast they are getting playing time.

  • He successfully pushed Onuachu away replacing him with Osimhen, now Iheanacho is 80% to the bench and we are still making noise. Even ndidi is not safe for SE call up due to injuries and we are the too know. Guys, zoo time, let the comment…

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Any coach will be sick in the head to bench Osimhen for Onuachu……are u serious??
