Ighalo Vows To Replicate Scoring Form At AFCON

Odion Ighalo is confident of replicating his goalscoring form for the Super Eagles at the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations In Egypt reports Completesports.com.

Ighalo finished as the top scorer during the AFCON qualifying series with seven goals in four games ahead of Fiston Abdul Razaq of Burundi who scored six goals.

The 29-year-old who took his tally to ten in 20 appearances for the Super Eagles thanked his teammates for their overwhelming support during AFCON qualifying series.

“I’m happy and grateful to God and I dedicate this feat to the team. Because it’s courtesy teamwork, without the team, it won’t be possible,” Ighalo told Completesports.com shortly before departure to his base in China.

“The dream is to replicate this scoring form for Nigeria in Egypt and I am confident on this but we have to take each game as it comes.”

On the chances of the Super Eagles winning the AFCON the former Udinese star remained optimistic.

“I must commend the coach (Gernot Rohr) for the wonderful job he is doing, trying to prepare the team ahead of the AFCON.

“I have no doubt that we are going to do well. Majority of the players are from the World Cup team in Russia, we have played together and we know ourselves very well.”

The former Changchun Yatai and Watford striker is also targeting more goals for his new side Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.

Ighalo has netted once in two games for his Shenhua Shanghai since he arrived.

We hear you sir! The lord is your strength just go and watch De Lima and Suarez clips prior to any major match it will help your psyche because you have the movement but fluffs chances when it matters. Do take my advice if you are reading this!!!

  • Igaloh, abeg take your vow to saint elsewhere.

Super Eagles is not your father’s compound.

If we had a coach, your current form will not gain you a position in the super eagles.

I have nothing against your person, I believe you’re a great guy, but you must be told the truth.

Jealousy, jealousy. Ighalo, my fellow country citizen. Anyone who jealous your prowl in that front of goal will not prosper. But, anyone who recognize, appreciates and admitted that you are the best goal scorer (7) in this just concluded AFCON, will inherit the Earth. Ighalo, may all your wishes come through this summer in Egypt.

Stop that no one is jealous of his own if you read and understand my quote!!! The same you will cast him if he fails tomorrow like you always do

      • Edoman of NewJersey,USA 5 years ago

Chima, l perfectly understand your quotation, right. but l was not referring to your article at all in that contest. l was solely reacting to Uzo’s article just above mine. To put it simply, l found your writings above in good faith. Oh yes, if Ighalo fails to live up to our expectations in Egypt in June, l will definitely thresh him to the core. But right now, he is undeniably, the number one goal scorer in Africa with 7 goals.

  • Edoman of New Jersey,

    Nobody is bigger than Nigeria,
    including Ighalo.

I cannot be jealous of him, I am not a footballer.

I only abhor mediocrity. What is the level of resistance and quality of football played in China?… Did you not see his performance at the world Cup? How many goals has this chap scored from open play for Nigeria in the last 2yrs?… Is the Super Eagles coach truly the best in the world for Nigeria?…

The problem with this team is a metaphor for what Nigeria has become today: a mediocre nation. Wallowing in abject poverty with so much abundance wasting at the beck and call of a few. I stand by my first comment, Ighalo, at his current form, has nothing to offer the Super Eagles. If you find anything wrong with this bare fact, well, I owe you zero apology.

    Good night.

“What is the level of resistance and quality of football played in China?… ”
Q1. What was the level of resistance and quality of football played in UAE when Asamoah Gyan terrorized defenses in Africa and at both the 2010 and 2014 world cups.
      .
“Is the Super Eagles coach truly the best in the world for Nigeria?…”
Q2. Please kindly mention any coach that could have done beyond what the current coach is doing with a salary of $50,000 per month
      .
” Ighalo, at his current form, has nothing to offer the Super Eagles.”
Q3. Whether in open play or in closed play…Ighalo is TOP SCORER in afcon qualifying in africa. He scored 7 out of 14 goals nigeria scored (thats 50% of goals scored) in this qualifiers….Pls is that “NOTHING TO OFFER”….???

And yet Carrasco of Belgium is planning on leaving Chinese league because his move to China has cost him a place in the present Belgium team. If China was good then he should have no problem even mikel made this revelation of playing in China at your prime. Drey you are not a footballer you only read news so sometimes think in line instead of always seeking for unnecessary arguments.

      • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

How about you? Are you a footballer? Did you ever kicked an orange?? Ighalo can still come back to play in Europe. Carrasco was playing in China when he went to the WorldCup with Belgium where they reach 3rd place finish. Paulinho was bought by Barcelona from China last season and helped them to the Spanish title.

      • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

Dumbass go and read the news update of Carrasco exit news from China and if he sealed a move prior to the WC from Athletico Madrid what sense are you making and football runs in my fam as I’m a relative to Late Stephen Keshi R.I.P who served this so called country.

  • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

Who cares if you’re a relative of Pele and Maradona combined. You already know who is a dumbass between me and you. How many of Keshis kids ever played football professionally?? ODERINDE. Carrasco was already playing in China before the WorldCup. Witsel was also playing in China and was one of the best midfielders at the WorldCup. Now he plays for Borrussia Dortmund.

Mr Sule Igbira nobody says the Chinese league is better than any league in Europe. Various players from all over the world go back and forth between Europe, North America and Asia or even North Africa because those leagues offers financial stability. The fact that Carrasco wants to return to Europe doesn’t mean Ighalo too can not return and if he chooses to stay that is his decision so long he delivers for the SuperEagles. Obviously, his role in the team is threatened by the likes of Onuachu and Osimhen, but he will be relevant for this AFCON at least from where we can move on afterwards.

Olodo you think signing for Chinese Club or his exploit for Athletico prior to the Cup was what earned him a call up please note the major differences and check when he left Spain to China before you keep defending your shame. And here’s the exit China news https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/carrasco-opens-transfer-door-to-arsenal-as-he-seeks-route-out-of-/zyixl04x58cj1qgtrhnlxeucn

      • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

ODERINDE. The fact of the matter is that he was playing in the Chinese league before the WorldCup. Asshole of the highest order was it because Witsel played for Real Madrid at the time that earned him a call up?? Shameless Agbero. I haven’t had your time since you came back after you said you’ve left the forum. At first I thought you will be redefined a bit when you came back commenting, but it doesn’t surprise me that your mouth is still a pit toilet. However, I get your time today. You already know me anyway.

Yes I’m seeking attention mumu. Birds of a feather with pinch stone brains flocks together. If you like you can take over the reigns of abuse from your fellow ABOKIMEGORO. He has already chicken out because his brain is flexible. He can’t take bantering even though he always starts it. Go and check his previous posts and see who be the real Mumu between me and you.
