Frank Onyeka isn’t playing… and even if he is playing he does not have the ruggedity needed to sweat Thomas PARTEY in the middle.

Reason we always ask for merited and honest invitations. Bonke been left out initially was very shameful by Eguaveon and you will know our coach has a weak and shallow mindset.

He wants to watch players live before inviting them… the excuse he put up for Dessers exclusion and Bonke.

I don’t like Eguaveon even though I am forced to suport him through this playoffs. He has failed on several occasions with Super Eagles.

The worst of it all is his lack of honesty… calling up an Onazi because his assistants or powers-that-be pressed him to do that…

He is supposed to have called up Nwakaeme, Bonke and Alhassan placing them in the main team… Shehu has just been a recurring decimal, and Etebo has no match practice since Spetember 2021. I am not expecting much if it comes down to Eguaveon working some magic… If we quality, it will be just the determination of the boys…

    • Don’t be surprised if balogun that has been on the bench in most league feature for the past weeks start the game wen his compatriot that plays weekly in the same club is left on the bench. This Nigerian mentality is a big problem. U wil see . Thank God bonke has been invited to pacify us.

      • Greenturf 2 years ago

@Olu,so if you were the super eagles coach you will bench Balogun?? Seriously!
He has not played because he was out injured, but he’s fine now and back playing so should be alright to start. He is one of our dependable and experienced players and that should count against Ghana in hostile Kumasi.
Shehu Abdullahi is not liked by Nigerians because of the league he plays rather he should be judged by performance which hasn’t gone wrong since his youth days.
A natural midfielder by trade who deputised in the right back and has done a job of it the few times he was called upon.
A few times he had opportunity to play in the midfield like chann 2014 or 16 can’t remember and against Liberia in Freetown he was phenomenal.I am astonished he constantly get dissed I don’t know whether because he’s a northerner, what I know Shehu Abdullahi is the best fit to take the place of Ndidi.Bonke is good but he’s not a ball playing midfielder.
Ghanaians are very good on the ball especially in the midfield,we equally needs ball playing midfielders to match them in that department.

        • Well . Bassey has full start always.check. if u judgement is real ok. No problem.thanks.i only base my thought on evidence I see in line up from various leagues for about 6 weeks now .

Naija fans, you guys should learn to trust your coach for once. The way you were bitterly complaining about Rohr, now you have moved to Eguavon. How can you expect him to add Nwakeme to a list with Osimhen, Ighalo, Sadiq, Kelechi, Dennis and having Onuachu, Awoniyi and Olayinka on standby. How many strikers do you want him to invite and who among the strikers does not worth to be in the list.

It is still to early in the day, let’s learn to trust out coaches for some time till the start having terrible results. Every coach will have he style and consequently his favourite players. But you should judge them by their results.

And another point let’s be factual Shehu has never disappointed whenever he was called upon. And he is also playing in him club,

God bless you Sir.Let us look at the quality of the league, not a strong league.Nwakaeme is a good player no doubt but the competition is tough. Emenike played in that league, scoring goals for fun, went to the EPL wuth westham, 0 goals 0 assists. Onyekuru went to GALATASARY AT Turkey, painted the league with goals, goes to Monaco then struggles . Moves to Greece with olympiacos, 0 goals 0 assists. Move Nwakaene to a stronger league, your guess is as good as mine.you can argue that Ighalo is playing in a less fancied league but you can not argue with his goal scoring record.

To be fair, he should take the place of musa but musa is the captain so who should be dropped for him , is it Dennis who score 9 goals + 5 assist or sadiq who has scored 15 goals+ 7 assists or is it osimhen with 11 goals in a tough league like serie a? Oh ok, he plays from the wings ,is it chukwueze, Dennis, Simon or lookman that should drop out? All these players are playing in far more competitive leagues than him. Would you even drop ejuke who is on standby for him? We should let it go please, the coaches know what they are doing.

      • JimmyBall 2 years ago

Say what you want… Nwakaeme deserves to be in Super Eagles first eleven. With the analysis you have given… The question you should be answering is playing in the same league who is better between Nwakaeme and Musa? Why is the guy never getting invited for. Over 4years? So Musa is being carried everywhere for politics? A deserving captain should be starting games and not sitting on the bench… A captain who sits on the bench and never starts is one that is dispensible. Some of you think is the league that one plays that makes a player… You argue against Nwakaeme for playing in Turkey and hail Shehu for playing in Cyprus… Isn’t that hypocrisy? I REPEAT Eguaveon will be lucky to go past the think-tank of Addo/Hughton…

Can amoo replace lookman ? They are both new players.

Bonke was solid today for Lorient. Onyeka as usual on the bench.

    I can’t wait for Friday

  • Can Nigeria ever have best eleven players . again ? Friday wil tell in Kumasi.or is it only white coach that can give us 1st eleven ?. Zaidu oshimen.aribo.okoye. Moses .bonke.bassey (Sadiq/ighalo).plays unconditionally……others are subs check It out.the coaches are still looking for guys that are good for 90mins.

I have said it. Black coaches can’t take us too far even if we qualify for world cup. Black coaches are not honest in selecting players. If Eguaveon is honest coach why inviting players that’s not fit? White man can’t not invite unfit players and players from second division. Rohr can’t do that.

@Greenturf, As good as ABDULLAH SHEHU is in your opinion, why has he not transitioned from mediocre CYPRUS to a top 20 European league!

The last I checked, SHEHU couldn’t hold his own in lowly TURKEY but the NON BALL-PLAYING BONKE made the huge jump from SWEDEN to LIGUE 1! Like my celebrated DOUBLE will say “football knows it’s people”. LoL!

Please I urge all BONKE nay sayers to go read what LORIENT Manager said about him and then be kind enough to drop the comments here.

@CHIBUIKE, Gernot ROHR invited non active MUSA, JOHN NOBLE, EZENWA etc. He also invited second division SADIQ UMAR, JAMILU COLLINS, ABDULLAH SHEHU (When BURSASPOR got relegated), OMERUO, SEMI AJAYI etc. Abi him be black coach too??
      Good luck SE!

@Mahmud Shuaib Bonke is a good player no doubt but players are in a team to serve different purposes.
Players do vary in style, some may not be a good fit against most opponents but are good against some.
For the Ghana tie I would play a defensive midfielder whose function is not only to close down opponents, giving hard over-hasty tackles and all that which are qualities most regular defensive midfielders possess more like the old fashioned ones, rather I would prefer one that use his head more than physique if you get what I mean.
I understand Shehu plays in a crappy league but he is not a crap player.
Apparently, there’s a reason he kept getting invited despite playing in low Cyprus.
“Efficiency” yes he does the job without hassles.Good tackles, visionary passes, impervious, impassable displays.
When you have a flair for something you have the special abilities or knack for doing something well with panache and finesse.
Self-assurance gives you the abilities to do things well with less ado,and when you are that good because you make it look so easy people wouldn’t take notice or understand how arduous the task is until someone else struggles.
I have seen enough of this lad to approve of him.He ticks the right boxes for me,I careless where he plays and wouldn’t judge a player from where they ply their trade rather what they bring to the national team.
Unfortunately,Shehu is the most underrated footballer in the super eagles.
However,Eguavoen has his own knowledge and understanding of football, he’s the manager and has the responsibility of picking any of Frank Onyeka,Innocent Bonke and Shehu Abdullahi to start against the black stars.
So whoever pick up the mantle to start against Ghana has my support but if I were the coach Shehu Abdullahi starts alongside Etebo and Aribo in more advance role.
        Good luck super eagles!
