Ikeme Shines In Wolves’ Training Session; Jose Sa Talks It Up

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, Jose Sa, enjoyed a training session with former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, at Compton Park, and he admits it was so inspirational, Completesports.com reports.

Ikeme who was Wolves former number one goalkeeper until he had to quit due to his leukemia diagnosis in 2017, made 207 appearances for the club.

Ikeme was invited to train with the Wolves’ first team at their Campton training ground, and the former Nigeria number one dazzled with great reflexes between the posts, so much so that some fans who watched the video clips on the club’s Social Media pages are now asking for his substantive return to the squad.

“It was a very nice day, nice training- I enjoyed a lot. Here you have the most beautiful football in the world in my opinion,” the 29 years old Portuguesel said.

“In the beginning, it was difficult because of some aspects.

“I came to replace Rui, who is a very good goalkeeper after I took your [Ikeme’s number] too, not a lot of pressure, but a situation, we have a good group.

“We didn’t start very well with the results, but we starting with very good football, and after the results came naturally.

“For us, it was good because we won confidence and now we are playing what we know.”

Ikeme made 10 appearances for the Super Eagles between 2015 and 2016.

  • Future Super Eagles Goal Keeper Coach

  • He Is of dual Nationality according to Amokachi he is not Nigerian enough smh!!. That Amokachi ehn. Anyway he will not come close to SE matters again.

  • Thank God he’s looking good. I wonder if NFF reaches out to him from time to time, just wondering.

Forget that mumu man since his retirement what contribution has he done to growth of football in Nigeria he was taken his kids all over Europe hoping that they will shine but no way if that those his boys should have played for Nigeria I know he will never make that mumu comment

Even with his years of absence, he’s still light-years ahead of the current goalkeepers. He’ll never never have committed those howlers against Tunisia and Ghana.

  • But does Leukemia stop this guy from at least being our goalkeepers coach? Anyway, thank God Pinnick finally had the courage to let Alloy Agu go. I believe he was one of the biggest clogs in the wheels of SE progress. Couldn’t produce a decent goalkeeper yet kept making a part of every reshuffled technical crew.

  • Here is an example to Amokachi it is like God just slapped a remainder to Amokachi mumu face. Big Carl was instrumental to our qualification to Russia 2018 before his unfortunate sickness which God willing he is recovered .. so he is of dual Nationality and he along with Vic Moses and Mikel Obi and Alex Iwobi were catalyst for that campaign. Hence I say Amokachi should go and sit down. He is a saboteur enemy of Progress!!

That? Mumu man his problem is jealous and envy because those his boys he born aboard could not make it in football

Amokachi made that statement in anger and frustration, I’m sure he wished he could take it back.
But truth be told, most of those boys who played against Ghana in Abuja, displayed some nonchalant and annoying characteristics. Their body language was as though nothing was at stake!
We all watched how Amokachi played during his days. Taking risks and sacrificing his body for his nation. I remember how he threw himself in front of a Bulgarian player, won the challenge and scored the second goal (USA ’94). Some of these current players don’t understand the importance and significance of wearing a Super Eagles shirt.

Dem get luck say those angry fans no lay hands on them lol.

        Samuel Eto, a TRUE LEGEND.

Perhaps Ikeme can still add to his 10 appearances for the SE.
If his health will allow him, we need him badly in the SE.
On action one one leg, oga.
The guy is still good. Nwoke ahu di mma.
Far better than what we currently have. The young lads Okoye and Uzoho can learn a whole lot from him.
I don’t see him upstaging Wolves current number one Jose Sa, who for me is one of the best goalies in world football at the moment. However, Ikeme could still remain at Wolves playing second fiddle to Sa, and still be very useful for Nigeria. I just hope he remains in good health.
If the guy is willing to return to the SE, that would be a game changer. He will come in and captain the team as well. Of course, he is not superman. He will also make mistakes and concede goals. But our goal will be in much safer hands with Ikeme in it.

      Can’t agree less POMPEI

Those two boys really messed us up big time!

  • From what I remembered against Ghana, Iheanacho didn’t play the second leg because he and Chukwueze fumbled in the first leg, Shehu came in to play nonsense In the second leg the likes of Dennis even Simon were marked out during second and first leg respectively, even Etebo, Bonke all struggled. Those names I mentioned were all home growns. Bassey and Lookman’s performances weren’t bad for first timers , all they need is encouragements. I’m sure they’ll all perform better next time. It took Sadiq 4 games to pick(against Tunisia) during nation’s cup, Awoniyi is still searching for his best game for Super eagles upon his form in Europe though he had an average performance against Egypt. So we need to support all these players that’s all they need at the moment.
