Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has expressed delight at scoring his first goal for Ajax in their UEFA Conference League play-off win against FC Sion on Thursday.
The Nigerian international made a massive impact off the bench for Ajax, scoring in the 74th minute and providing an assist in the 87th minute during their 4-2 win against FC Sion.

Team’s Ambition
Speaking about his ambitions and the club’s status, Arokodare, in a chat with ESPN, stressed that Ajax belongs in the Champions League.
He also noted that he wants to put his difficult spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers behind him by regularly scoring goals and matching or exceeding his previous high-flying form in Belgium.
Personal Targets
Arokodare said that despite long-term goals to win the title and return to Europe’s elite competition, the team remains fully concentrated on winning matches and clearing their current path in the Conference League.
“I don’t think there’s a real reason or there’s a real excuse,” Arokodare told ESPN. “I think it’s part of the game.

“As players, we have seasons and moments like this in our careers, and it’s something to learn from, that I’ve moved on from, and I’m focused on the new season.
“I’ve been preparing well with the Ajax team and the players and I’m focused on this season. I’m focused on getting better, focused on better things for myself. Focused on not making the same mistakes I did. That’s all I’m focused on. Not focused on last season.”
