Blackburn Rovers star Dapo Afolayan has expressed readiness for a fresh start at the club heading into the 2026–27 EFL Championship season.
After a stop-start beginning following his January 2026 move from St. Pauli, the winger is fully fit, praising a new tactical style under Tony Mowbray that better suits his game.

In a chat with Rovers TV, Afolayan stated that he’s aiming to secure regular starts and make a true impact at Ewood Park after featuring just eight times in the latter half of the previous term.
He also described the new campaign as a fresh opportunity for the entire squad.
“We’re really looking forward to it,” Afolayan said. “It’s important for us as a team, after a good preseason, to have a competitive game, because they bring the best out of all of us and get us going.
“The first few weeks of pre-season are always good to get in the building and see everyone again.

“But you feel ready for the action as you get to August and are raring to go for the thick of things when it comes to competitive games, so we’re looking forward to it all starting again.
“I feel good. I’ve had a good preseason and worked hard in the offseason to get to a level off the back of last term, and I’m ready for the new season.”
