Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has disclosed that he is learning a great deal and ready to embrace new tactical demands under Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

Recall that Simeone publicly apologized to Lookman for deploying him out of position as a center-forward during the opening matches of the 2026/27 La Liga season against Málaga and Villarreal.

Desire To Learn

The tactical shift was forced by injuries and absence, notably with Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sorloth unavailable.

Rather than showing frustration, the Super Eagles star noted that working with the Argentine coach helps him grow and adapt to the team’s broader style of play.

“Playing under the Mister is great. I am learning a lot and trying to improve. Learning from him and his staff is important for me to keep improving and help the team.

“It was important for us to continue in the way we’ve started the season,” the 2024 CAF Player of the Year said in an interview with ESPN.

“Three games, seven points, it’s positive. So, we have to keep on improving, keep on getting better as a team, and then winning, it’s the most important.”

Lookman On Target Against Sevilla

Lookman bounced back into stellar form by scoring in a 3–1 victory over Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.
