‘I’m Not Aware Of Rohr’s Sack’ – NFF’s Director Of Communications, Olajire

‘I’m Not Aware Of Rohr’s Sack’ – NFF’s Director Of Communications, Olajire

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, says he is not aware Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has been sacked.

Olajire stated this in reaction to a report on Thursday indicating the German coach has been relieved of his position.

Rohr has come under heavy criticism following the Eagles’ lacklustre display in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Cape Verde, which earned them a place in next year’s play-off.

The poor performance has led to football fans and stake holders to call for his sack.

And in his reaction, Olajide said he is not aware of Rohr’s sack.

“I’m not aware of Rohr’s sack because there are procedures for doing things at the federation. Before such a decision could be taken, there will be a meeting of the NFF board and a release issued to the public.

“As for now, I’m not aware of the sack. The online platform you claimed reported the story cannot announce his sack without confirmation from the NFF.”

Sacking him and still interferes in the super eagles team list is like buying a car with fueling it

  • Olujimi Morgan 2 years ago

Amuneke will get Eagles play better and gain more points. This is my sincere opinion.

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

Samuel Chukwueze sat on the bench for the whole of 2 games played and people like Ighalo and Musa got more minutes than him. E no go better for people supporting evil just because of theur selfish interest

This boy even recovered from his injury before Ndidi. He’s played more matches than Ndidi for his club since he’s return.
If Ndidi could play the whole 2 matches then why couldn’t Chukwueze play atleast few minutes especially in 2 games where we struggled

Plz ,I don’t want the good news I heard earlier to be false oo,I need this man. To go,he should go and coach Lesotho or comorros, that’s his level,a coach will call on shehu who plays in Cyprus to replace,Simon, and leave out Aina and akpoguma who play in Italy n Germany, bench sanusi ,a champions league player for German div 2 player ,bench his attacking players that can get us goals and prefers to struggle for goals with a tired ighalo who could not even press, osimehn was tired and gasping for breathe after playing with ighalo and I’m sure ,if u ask him privately,he wouldn’t want to make that mistake of playing with him.i need to hear breaking news about his sack plz

        • Godswill Diego 2 years ago

No smoke without fire. Let Olajire continue to deny it. Let NFF drop their account number and the amount needed to pay Rohr off Nigerians will raise the money for his payoff.

          • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Exactly common Davido raised how much in less than 6hours like play, how much more football lovers. The problem with some forumites is there mentality of always holding on to manage lifestyle and letting go excellence.

        • Shehu is a rugged defender and less attacking than aina.

It makes sense for him to replace Simon if u noticed Cape Verde were attacking from the flanks and pulling out for headers. Most of you people don’t know any thing about game management. All you want to see is over attack and leave you back exposed.

When Rohr leaves same ppl complaining will regret.

Just like when Siasia amokachi eguaveon oliseh were the manager of the team.

Ordinary nations cup they could not qualify for

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Ighalo With Big Ass that can not move with ease. Terrible game to behold I almost vomit when Ighalo Lago and he comes out to say we should give Ighalo time. When Awoniyi Dessers and co are the ones that should be given that time. I immediately sensed nepotism at that statement!

    • Chris 2 years ago

      Agreed

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

A lot of teams fired average coaches and got immediate Results after replacing with decent ones, a good coach is a good coach there is nothing like critical time in football anymore. Chelsea did with Lampard and hired Tuchel, Totheham got rid of Nuno and got Conte, Ghana got Rajevac, Egypt also hired a better coach and all made positive impacts. Should we wait until we get humiliated before we start building with the right Coach? I would want us to Go for the coach of Benin republic since Saudi Arabia will not let us have Herve Renard. Football has developed much more if you look at small teams well handled by smart coach examples are these Asian countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and even Benin republic that narrowly lost the playoff ticket to DRC Congo. NFF should wake up now and weed this dumbass now or loose the future of Nigeria football.

    • @Chima E Samuels, be realistic and save yourself from headaches. How are we going to pay a better coach at this time that will charge way more than USD$45,000. If you can provide a financial plan for this. Then you have my vote.

      • Chris 2 years ago

        Amunike is a better coach

        • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

When last did Amunike coached a team?? Please I’m waiting for the answer. That’s how they hurriedly call Siasia and Amunike to the rescue after Oliseh ran away and the result was a failure to qualify for the AFCON.

          • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ayphillydegreat… Amuneke and Siasia you said, yes they came in for rescue mission against Egypt and you must know even now with 100 Gernot Rohr in charge, you cannot boast of beating Egypt if they emerge as our playoff opponent… there are teams in Africa that Nigeria cannot just wake anyday and say they will defeat… Rohr is disaster and calamity married together waiting to happen! Even if we will lose playoff, let us have a combination of Nigerians with integrity… Amuneke/Manu/Enyeama can do the job… Finidi can even be drafted into the coaching crew… see what Belmadi and Cisse are doing for their nations…

          • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Ah Jimmy disaster and calamity mixed together. It’s too much of Judgement to an human abeg!

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Nigeria with all it’s resources should be handled by a competent Coach. If we no get money then we have no business talking football because we can’t continue with this eye sore football and terrible invitations like Noble, Akpeyi, Shehu and all sort of garbage players in a country of Almighty Nigeria Status. Technical players will keep rejecting us as long as Rohr is at the Helm!!!

      • Again @Chima E Samuels, Rohr has recruited more technical players than any other coach. I agree that he hasn’t given them chances. But their time will come.

      • Godswill Diego 2 years ago

@ China Samuel, I agree with. For 5 years Rohr cannot search for a quality goalkeeper and a playmaker, is that one a coach?

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Big lie Rohr inherited technical players from Manu Garba and Amunuke. I can name them if you want and examples are Osigoal, Chukwueze, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ndidi etc… Iwobi was there before he came. Rohr only discovered the likes of Okoye who to me is not spectacular and Noble that is nothing to write home about. Technical players like Moses Victor rejected Rohr and most recently Samuel Kalu…. Open your eyes this coach can not deal with technical players he doesn’t have a philosophy he is just a German by nationality but not by wisdom. I know German Coach like Hansi Flick but I don’t recognize Rohr!!!

      • Dennis 2 years ago

So you really think rorh scouted noble and invited him despite not playing for over 4 months? Wow. You think rorh had heard about noble before?

        • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

The Coach is responsible if he allows himself to be used.

  • Oseodion Inegbenebor 2 years ago

That’s the communications director talking, who else would speak for an agency?

What I want NFF to communicate to Nigerians before tomorrow afternoon is, Coach Rohr is very much at his duty post and the issue of sacking does not arise at all. And that every arrangement is been concentrated on how to emerge victorious in the forth coming playoffs.

    • Biodun Awori 2 years ago

Oseodion, a.k.a talk and do. Still very fresh how you said Ighalo will be begged to come out of retirement and it did came to pass. So are you saying Rohr with all those copy and past website news hasn’t been sacked?

    • I think Olajire’s comment is a political statement. If you read between the lines, he’s refusing to categorically confirm or deny the reports. In a way, it’s a political way of saying “It could be true or false, but I’ve not been authorized to say anything for now. I’m waiting for instructions from ogas at the top before I say anything categorical”

Otherwise, he would have laughed it off and say there’s no truth in that or yes, he’s been relieved. But even for that, there’s an official process, which is a press release by NFF. Will not be announced by Olajire.

      • Oseodion Inegbenebor 2 years ago

You’re the one thinking, I just told you what will happen.

  • Sanyke 2 years ago

    Gbam!

  • Timothy 2 years ago

It’s even funny. How do you sack a winning coach? Only a stupid organisation or people does that. He was given targets and has met them so far. Let’s be patient ejoor, it’s well.

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

It will be the joke of the year to sack a coach that qualified you for the AFCON and on course in the WorldCup playoffs. With less than two months to the AFCON. Well if I were Rohr’s I will just resign and move on with my life and leave all these ungrateful Nigerians to their problems. I expected him to do so after the AFCON, but he showed a desire to continue with what he has started. We can be biased as much as we can. Rohr had already created a team for at least a decade to come. The only adjustment I can recommend is to give him a very sound assistant. Definitely not Yobo and Yusuf who are said not to have a CAF license to sit on the technical bench Lmao!! Who did us like this Nitori Ọlọrun!!! A new coach will come and start all over again in the middle of a very important tournament and WorldCup playoffs??? Ok OO! We go siddon look see waiting go happen.

    • Thanks Chief for seeing and stating a clear picture of things. We are so driven by sentiments in this country that we fail to look at a situation from a practical angle.
It’s funny because that is what drives Nigeria and every level of society. Sentiments rather than practical thinking.

    • Dennis 2 years ago

You couldn’t have said it better. How on earth did yobo get the job? You guys remember how keshi qualified Togo for the World Cup, was sacked and replaced with Otto pfister? How did Togo perform at that World Cup? They lost all their matches. Which quality coach can we afford to pay as well as afford not to owe? Which quality coach would accept assistant coaches being forced on him as well as players? Which quality coach would would tolerate being ignored after complaining about the playing turf of a particular stadium and requesting we move to another home stadium but such complains continually fall on deaf ears?

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Watch Benin and Ethiopia latest matches against better oppositions than Cape Verde, you’ll notice build up play and intelligent set up. Do you want to tell me that these minor countries can afford coaches than Nigeria. If we no get money let us close the NFF office and make we avoid the embarrassing gather and play football we are presently experiencing. Enough of all this craps!!!

        • @Chima, do you know whether it was a tactical strategy not to have a build up play in our match against cape Verde. I noticed that most times the ball was floated from the back line to Ighalo to hold and allow Osimhen to run up for a challenge. That is the African football I know. It is when we get to proper competitions we now implement passing to the central midfielders and ball distribution. That is even How some African coaches play. This is why its always to understand patterns and tactics rather than use sentiments to judge.

        • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

I don’t agree with you because if you have good poison it will kill your opponents weak poison. Once again refer to coaches with killer instinct like Tuchel, Flick, Herve Renard, Belmadi,Aliou Cisse, Conte and many more. Rohr has no poison that is why highland coaches will come and threaten almighty Nigeria and almost make us run out of the house watching our national team.

          • Going by your analogy Tuchel never inherited a strong team. He inherited a group of talented individuals and made them strong. Even the teams handled by Hansi Flick. It’s interesting you point to Tuchel and Conte who use the same formation sometimes as Rohr. By the way, the Osigoal and Nacho we have now are not the same players Rohr had when he took over. You have forgotten Kevin Akpoguma or even the guy at Malmo FF playing UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

          • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Osigoal was. Discovered by Amunike he has the talent him long ago scoring ten goal at the u17 world cup, Kelechi was discovered by Manu Garba before he was bought by Pellegrini Manchester City where he was an impact player alongside Gabriel Jesus. The Akpoguma and Bonke player you mentioned are not spectacular Compared to Anthony Izuchukwu and Obinna Nwobodo respectively talent for Talent. Our coach is a marketing manager and it is really working for him and DW.

    • John-I 2 years ago

What’s all this Rohr qualified for tournament slogan? Is qualification a title or silverware ? The late Amodu qualified for a major tournament and still got sacked for his style of play. Fabio Capello won Laliga for Real Madrid and still got sacked for terrible and defensive-football. How much more Rohr who hasn’t won a tea-cup for five solid years?
Rohr has reached his height, the next is diminishing returns. Nigeria can’t allow themselves to witness that diminish returns!

      • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Then what happened at the tournament proper when Amodu wasn’t allowed to take the team to the WorldCup?? Guess what we crashed with the worst teams in Nigeria’s WorldCup history. What happened to Madrid after they sacked Capello despite winning La Liga? Guess what Madrid never a single till they won Copa Del Ray in 2012. After 5 years Capello left. Sack Rohr now and watch as the SuperEagles will be humiliated in Cameroon and not qualify for the WorldCup. Watch this space by March

        • Victor 2 years ago

In 2002 WC, we could have harvested the experience of a crop of SE players that have garnered two WC experience under their belt but the team was disbanded for losing an AFCON’ 92 semifinals match to Senegal in extra time. People said we should not be losing to Senegal. Guess what Senegal got to the WC qfinal beating France on the way. We crashed out of the WC in the first round because the new coach was experimenting with new crops of players while the likes of Oliseh, Finidi, Babayaro, Agali and some others were unceremoniously yanked off. This ought to teach us lessons not to be rash in our decisions.

  • Cyracus 2 years ago

Rohr should stay and picnick should go for lack of vision

  • Ishaku Davou 2 years ago

@Chima, u got a point, Nigeria have the capacity to recruit a good coach but the corrupt Nff body will not allow that to come to bear….

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

And a good coach who will not be afforded free hands will never remain on a job or accept cheap offers. Example is Antonio Conte rejecting Inter after winning Seria A and inter President saying he wants to cash in on his star player Lukaku. If you know your worth you will not allow football administrator to run your team play. It is left for your capacity to speak by achieving great results so that they’ll respect you. Pinnick became the coach after Rohr went one full year without a win and because oga was Clueless he has to give in to to Pinnick. Many people don’t know what is happening in the NFF even our sports media, only the players can voice out but as Courtsey demand they’ll be mute and sit-down look. Many talents are wasting and many wasting because of this average players taking their slots. If Rohr remains we will looses many talents because no technical coach to manage them!!!

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Dishonesty is also part of his problem that is why he will accommodate NFF. If he is honest what is Noble, Akpeyi, Shehu, Ighalo, Musa still doing in the national team? I was discussing with a super eagles player I will not mention name and when I asked what is way forward his response was Honesty!!! He said with the talents we have in Nigeria even an Average honest coach will do well. The guy lie???

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

I predicted a boring match after seeing line up against Liberia and one Dan insulted me. I told him after the match he should come back and insult me but I didn’t see him. Whoever loves the game like Orji Kalu and Co will speak out and not keep mute because of ire from wherever. I leave in peace make this rumor unveil itself for better for worse.

  • Guy leave them let them go ahead. Since all even said aboved that sacking is the good news his life has been waiting for. Every single person against this man is doing so not because of their love for the game for their personal pocket because the has one or the other not given in to their demand. See the person they are even lining up to replace him Eguavon and Amunike lol, when will tell them Nigeria cannot afford better coach than the present one but out of personal vendetta they want the man out. This useless ex convict is even talking why can’t he say all these before the man was appointed. Maybe he want Rohr to invite some of his corrupt management players which he refused. Sincerely I want Rohr to leave the job for all these ungrateful Nigerians and move on

    • Eguavoen and Amuneke are both useless local coaches. Nigeria should let Gernot Rohr see out his contract. Nigerians are very ungrateful people. Before Rohr came in, the Super Eagles were not able to qualify for any major tournaments like AFCON for two consecutive tournaments and had become the laughing stock of African and World soccer. The NFF should stop playing matches in Lagos and move the games back to Uyo. this is not a good time to replace Gernot Rohr. If they insist, they want him replaced, then go for a world-class coach, and not a local Nigerian coach or ex-international who has nothing to offer tactically or technically.

  • Forget the super eagles lets look at the other age groups u23. u20 & u17.

Does any of them have head.

Ideally SE should be able to pick one or two and integrate them into the SE main team.
    Like any other country

NFF is a bigger problem than Rohr

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

I hope this is a fake news!Rohr getting sacked is totally absurd a bizarre decision!Nigerians don’t know what’s good for them.
This man deserves at least to see off his contact. He has met targets so should continue!

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Greenturf… a.k.a @Dr.Drey… Lol. Hmmmm… so you are stll hiding and morphing under other aliases? Lol… You have not been your real self since Rohr called High Blood Pressure on you like an avalanche of melting snow… hahahaha. NFF stupidly let him insert that humongous severance package and are now frightened of the legal implications… Lol, shady business deal between two crooked friends don turn soured kunu… I am sure people in high places like the presidency are sweating Amaju Pinnick and threatening him with EFCC is Rohr is not cut-loose… it is very refreshing to see how @Dr.Drey has disappeared like vanishing spray from Completesportsnigeria forum… hahahahaha. Mr Statistics… let us have some usual stats on your moongod Rohr please… we know you are have gone nicodemously to post comments under several aliases in the last three days… masquerade please come out, the dance is just getting started… they smuggled one useless fraudulent and spent hustler through Nigerien desert to come and inflict aganizing heartaches on poor Nigerians with cardiac arrest football tactics… Amaju Pinnick please cut loose your colonial business master to ski back through the desert to France… @Dr.Drey… you still have one use… you know Rohr’s underwears are for your use… so please, endavour to escort him to the border at Buhari Village Maradi between Nigeria and Niger… lol.

  • The fact is, Rohr has a contract that is backed by a FIFA guarantee. The NFF want him gone, but do not want to pay compensation. Rohr has fulfilled all targets so far in his contract. Qualify for AFCON is secured. We have qualified for the final round of the World cup qualifiers.

The question of should he resign is a funny one. Who here will walk away from $45,000 x 12 months plus bonuses and compensation at figure of between N350,000,000 to N600,000,000. Don’t forget his contract backed by FIFA guarantees this. Personally, I will not.

The NFF have simply got to cough up the money. I have a theory, the NFF does not want to pay up as it reduces how much they can pocket themselves. Plus they will now have to start negotiations for a possible replacement. No good coach, given the desperation to have somebody in place in time for AFCON which starts in 7 weeks time will accept $45,000. They will negotiate hard.

The NFF have put themselves between a rock and a hard place and will pay for it.

The alternative? Salisu Yusuf a bribe taker caught on camera and Austin Eguavoen assisting him in the short term.

One last thing, until Melvin Amaju Pinnick and his cohorts actually leave and allow a proper technocrat run the NFF, we will continue to decline. At this time nothing in football is working in Nigeria.

    Not the U13, U15, U17, U20 boys and girls,
Not the U23, not the CHAN Eagles, not the Super Falcons,
Not the NPFL, not the NWFL, not the NNL,
Not the CAF Confederations Cup teams, not the CAF Champions League teams,
    Not our WAFU representatives.

So whom is the real problem with Nigerian football?

  • Sacking coaches on the pages of newspaper and online publications……I am one of Rhor’s most brutal critics but it will be pure madness to sack him now……We are in the middle of a campaign and you want to sack the leader of the team?……Let him finish the qualifiers and if he fails he is gone……it’s a win win for us to hinge our qualification on his job security……It’s all a game and I support the NFF on this one.

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Bro let’s study the small teams that impressed during the qualifiers that we know their coaches are good like the Ethiopia Coach and give them a team of Nigeria talent with free hands. Mehn we go love football and this kind of coaches will take us back to the days 94. It is clear that the coach can not play well against organized team that is why he always complains whenever his opposition closes space. These same oppositions will not try to close space against superior teams like Algeria, Morocco, Senegal and not collect basket of goals. With what we experienced lately during second halves you and I know that against Senegal and other top 10 African countries we will not survive the scare, and we are just getting to the main stage so imagine what will happen to Ekong, Okoye and his fellow Oyinbo wall hmmm! Okay let them leave Rohr and sell our hope for $2million a whole Nigeria.

  • Truth 2 years ago

Corruption is my major challenge with local coaches bsc almost all our local coaches has been indicted.

  • Jide A. Babatunde 2 years ago

Does that means the country and the NFF hasn’t anything else to deliberate on?
Ok, what message are we going to tell the World, that a coach who qualified us for an important meet has been sacked? I tire this senselessness o.

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Seen how Southgate integrate decent talents into the English most recently Connor Gallagher creating hot competitions blowing teams by high margin I got jealous. But come to Nigeria Anthony Izuchukwu,Bassey, Ola Aina, Nwobodo, Alhassan, Amoo and many more highly gifted players left to rot in various way. I weep when I don’t get to see these talented guys integrated like the English and German teams integrate players. No who do us??? Are we the only county that is corrupt in the world??? See Saudi Arabia with Zero talents Evolving, what about Iran? I bet Rohr to try and challenge these teams or even try the latest Canada team led by Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies we go hear am talkless of Challenging Major teams. Rohr use to be honest but corruption has gotten the better of him that his why he lost his talent and now it’s too late for him to get his Mojo back. Let him pay the price of corruption which is disgrace or we can leave him and continue the eye sore football. The ball is left on the corrupt confused Ogas at the Top!!!

  • De Star 2 years ago

@ Chima E Samuel; why over labouring yourself on explaining to @Dennis that Rohr should take responsibility of bringing a displaced and inactive player John Noble for over 3 months ahead of his superior quality keeper in his Eyimba club .

Niger , Gabon and Bukinafaso that dismissed Rohr just on one year coaching their countries would be laughing at the so called the supposed giant of African Nigeria for employing their substandard rejected coach , just as Oji Kalu was wondering how a coach that was refused employment as not having technical and mental capacity to handle a local club as Enyiba.

If not for corruption, would a disgraced and failed coach that is almost 70 years old without Tea cup in his career would have fund himself handling a great nation as ours ?

Would a sensible and sound foreign coach be sitting tight on his job with over 8Months backlog salary , now at the mercy of the likes of the flopped retiring Ighalo paying his way into the SE after 2 years retirement and duly enjoying himself in his retirement Saudi league ?

Would an average coach allowed the likes of inactive and displaced John Noble be fraudulently imposed on him ( as Rohr was making business with foreign players like Igahalo to pay his bills ,his equally unpaid assistants are equally making business with local players as John Noble to also feed their families)?

Would an average coach ( not even great coach ) spent close to 6 years in a team without pattern ? without creative midfielder? without dependable goalkeeper.. for close to 6 years !!! ( in less than few months a local coach Onigbinde came out with one of the greatest goalkeepers in Eyimba displacing foreign great keeper Ike Shorumi without excuse?), how many months does it take a local coach Oliseh to produce super goalkeeper in Cal Ikpeme ?); how many months does it take unpaid late Keshi a local coach that took a team that couldn’t qualify for the previous Afcon, to win Afcon and reached second round of WC ? even with backlog of unpaid salary? how many years that took an average foreign coach as Westerhof to win Afcon and broke record & set record that has eluded Nigeria since independence , and took SE to the highest ranking ever best 5th position in the world ?

Would a supposed foreign coach be continued tutored by Algeria local coach Belmadi that equally took over Algeria team that couldn’t qualify for the previous Afcon , just within a year of taken over Algeria team and beat the same coach Rohr ,with technical superiority 4 years after in a neutral Stadium again, within clueless Rohr not updating himself nor submitting himself to go for training under Belmadi but for pride?

I beg , left to me , he should not only be sacked but for his huge fraudulent severance package , and he and his business partner in NFF that could advertised Nigerian corruption to the world at large, as any sensible football knowledgeable would know Oga Rohr does not have technical capacity to handle a good local club in Nigeria league let alone SE .

Rohr is product of corruption just as his severance package is equally full of fraud .

SE is the last bust stop of Rohr ; give him another one decade ; it will be the same blame game as Buhari APC; as he cannot give what he does not have ; with useless corrupt NFF also owing him salary as they do to the local coaches ; thereby forcing Oga Rohr to add corruption to his technical deficiencies with the recalled of the retiring flopped Igahalo back into SE.

Anyone that believe Rohr can win Afcon let alone performing magic in WC should have his head examined; as Oga Rohr does not have anything to prove that he has no business handling Eyimba football club as attested to by Oji Kalu , let alone SE .

Because of severance package, he should not be sacked but the technical crew should be frustrated out to resign or relegated and then get him sacked after Afcon because I am certitude, tea cup Oga Rohr cannot win

  • Not entirely a vote of confidence. Implicit in Pinnick’s statement is the is plan to review the current situation around Rohr’s contract.

The atmosphere around Rohr is too toxic and his position is currently untenable.

A huge body of fans and stakeholders would like to NFF to give Rohr his marching orders. The German’s choice of players, tactics and pre/post match commentaries demonstrate to me that he is not in tune with the aspirations of fans.

I worry about the timing. I remember engaging into a heated conversation with Ayphilly in 2019 immediately after the Afcon when I advocated for Rohr’s removal after thanking him for all his (good) contributions. Even then – despite winning bronze at the Afcon – I had an inner conviction that the German could not lift Nigeria to a higher level.

I respect Rohr and I think he has done well with Nigeria. But with him in charge, the umbilical cord that emotionally connects majority of fans with the Super is tainted.

Having said all that I worry that sacking a manager so close to a major tournament can potentially spell disaster. As I suspected in August 2019, the NFF will leave it too late before opening their eyes to reality.

Whatever happens, I wish the team all the best.

  • De Star 2 years ago

@Deo ; I can recollect myself where we tagged ourselves progressive group @ Ayphillydegreat & co until lately we’re also not helping Oga Rohr to improve with their blind support abusing those that pointed out many glaring deficiencies of Oga Rohr ; Rohr would have use SE to learn the rudimentary of coaching skills and upgrade his technical deficiencies; but alas he would not heed correction .

NFF did not also helped him with unpaid backlog of unpaid that forced Rohr to resorted to the likes of flopped Igahalo coming back from his retirement Saudi league .

$2m is huge ; they should get him demoted if he refuses to resign and bring in combo of Amunike-Manu Garba -Finidi plus Peter Rufai / Cal Ikpeme or Ike Shorumi as goalkeeper trainer.

One thing is certain, given Rohr another decade he cannot Winn Tea cup

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@TALK UR OWN… How many foreign borns has he successfully convinced? Nigeria followed Akpoguma for long before he agreed to play for Nigeria after it hit him he will never suit up for Germany at senior level. Even Akpoguma will be regretting coming to Nigeria because even though he is better than Ekong… Rohr have no balls to bench the sluggish and panicky squid called Ekong…worst central defender in Nigeria’s football history…

Jordan Torunarigha is there… what has Gernot Rohr done to convince him? People who still love him and pity him should advise NFF to make him player scout!

Super Eagles is serious business and we should be ashamed as a nation that our recruitment philosophy is to go begging foreign borns to play for us… it should be the other way round but because all we want to do is insult our league and no develop it… our talent pool will be shallow… the solution will always be the home front and NFF should fund developmental youth programmes statewide to catch talent young…

Rohr is a good coach, buh his problem is that he didn’t believe in himself. I am highly disappointed in him. How will you play for draw against lowly cape Verde, he was talking about defence and attack not playing well, they are going to work on both for how many years. You are talking as if what the guys plaid is not as a result of your tactics and instructions. Ndidi could not join attack, Aribo couldn’t join attack, same thing with your wing back, what am I saying seff, why will you play 3 5 2 when you have good wingers and good strikers, when you plaid like that against CAR in the second leg it was understandable bcos they were playing defensive football, when you plaid that way against Liberia, I tot you are going to change formation against cape verde, my tot was that you want to take cape Verde unaware, you still you that formation when you have players that can win games for you easily. I still remember one of our qualifiers that you played chukueze and Osimhen together the combination was so nice, not to talk of Ejuke joining them in that attack buh fair will not allow you to do the right thing. You are meant to capitalized on the tactics that had given you fine results, instead you act like confused person as if you are not the one that has being coaching this guys all this time. Rohr if you must stay, you have to let go of fear, the same fear that made you to loose world cup second round ticket, which I actually tot your confidence will come alive buh you don’t want to let go of fear. You played for draw against cape Verde when you know that any small mistake we are out, if it were to be against any big team in Africa it would have been understandable. You are actually lucky that you were not sacked buh there most be difference in how you play from now on. I know you are a good coach and you have brought a lot of good things to the team, if you are ready to play without fear I know for sure it will be difficult for any team to beat you.

My problem with Rohr recently is not in the team formation 352( even though i prefer 433, even 343 the one associated with conte when he is in chelsea) but with team selection. I don’t understand who will use a winger who cannot cross over a player who has been playing as a wing back all his life. Someone like Ola Aina played as wing back in Chelsea, Fulham and now at Torino. GR always cry that we do not have players playing in bayern, chelsea, Liverpool but we have Sanusi, a player who is playing in Porto a champions league quarter finalist but he is playing a 2nd division player ahead of him. When we have one of the highest goal scorer in Germany, he went for a striker playing in Saudi Arabian. The same league Musa went to after WC and his performace diminishes, till today he is yet to bounce back to Musa of old.
If GR is sack today, I will wish him all the best in his future endeavors. However if he remains, I have no other choice than to support the team. SE comes first !!

If a good team has one below average player, the team can still cope, when it is two players the team will suffer but when they are three bad players the team will be in disarray. What is happening to SE today is that we have many players that are too complacent. They do not want to improve their craft. No ambition, lazy mentality with a coach who will rather choose his favored player over a better one. With the possibility of staying together for one month at the Afcon, I hope like every tournament we participate the team will improve.

Sometimes, I wonder if I’m seeing the same set of players that I watch in their respective clubs before when I see them playing for Nigeria. The play is sluggish no pattern nor direction. Rohr should go now…

I think he was asked to resign. NFF don’t want to sack him.

  • My brother leave them Rohr should go I want to see the new Jesus
