India Seal Series After Thrashing Proteas

India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in their Test series against South Africa after thrashing the tourists by an innings and 137 runs. The Proteas were bowled out in their first innings for 275 at the end of day three and were still trailing India by 326 runs on the back of the hosts’ 601-5 declared in Pune.

South Africa were asked to follow-on and again struggled with the bat with only Dean Elgar showing any resistance as he hit 48.

India’s spin duo Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took two and three wickets respectively, while fast bowler Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bunch with 3-22 as the tourists were bowled out for 189 on Sunday. The result means India have now won a Test-record 11 home series’ in a row, while the final Test of this series takes place in Ranchi from next Saturday.
