Inter president Massimo Marotta has questioned Lautaro Martinez’s omission from the final shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2024.
On Friday, FIFA announced the final 11 for the men’s category with Martinez not listed.
Notable names like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Rodri, Vinicius Junior made the cut.
Reacting to the final shortlist, Moratti posited that Martinez should have been rewarded for his hard work.
“It’s surprising and disappointing that he wasn’t considered among the candidates after an exceptional season,” Moratti said.
“Lautaro deserves more respect and greater recognition.
“This exclusion seems to ignore not only the numbers and success he’s had, but also the impact in decisive matches. This is a bad sign, players who stand out like this should be rewarded.”
