Int’l Friendly: Mensah Excited As Black Stars Get Set For Brazil Clash

Auxerre and Ghana defender, Gideon Mensah is delighted with the opportunity to face the Selecao of Brazil in a pre-World Cup international friendly match.

The Black Stars are set to play the Samba Boys on Friday, September 23 at Stade Oceane in France.

The friendly game serves as part of both teams’ preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar which will get underway from November 20 until December 18, 2022.

Mensah praised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for arranging the friendly game with Brazil.

“Playing against a country like Brazil is a good test for Ghana going to the World Cup, it is a good choice for Ghana,” Mensah was quoted as saying by Ghanafa.org

“I give thumbs up to the GFA for giving us the opportunity to play against a team like Brazil.

“Being ready [for the World Cup] means we are going to compete against the best countries in the World Cup, so playing against Brazil on Friday is going to be a good test for us. So for sure, we are fired up.

“This game will show if we are ready or we are getting close to our goals at the World Cup.”

Mensah has made four appearances for Auxerre in French Ligue 1 this season. The 24-year-old has also made four appearances for Ghana.

Ghana are in Group H at the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.

The Black Stars have qualified for four editions of the FIFA World Cup; Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, and Qatar 2022.

    Wotowoto loading

    • Is it the same wotowoto Nigeria was supposed to score us? Pls come again. The team Ghana will present tonight and the performance will send shock waves through the group. If there’s anything you expect from any Ghanaian team, it’s the fighting spirit. We will not lie low for the Brazilians. At the end of the day they (Brazil) will confess they had a good test game. We are Ghana

Brazil are good, but I do not really see their players that extraordinary. Ghana can equally match them

It is only once Ghana could not make it out of their group in world Cup due to internal problems with money and players. They are the best performing African side in the tournament. They nearly made it to the semis in 2010,this squad surely is better than the 2010 one. They can face any team

Ghana is the best country to represent Africa at the world cup. They will compete very well

  • Ghana is preparing for the world cup and not the African cup. Let them take on the best. Make Africa proud, Ghana

  • No African team have lost against Brazil in the last four to five years and I hope Ghana will maintain that tradition.Brazil actually forced Senegal and Nigeria to a 1-1 draw.Remember that Joe Aribo goal.

    Go Ghana.Make Africa proud

I talk am Ghana don dey collect dia share of d wotowoto

  • Ghana 0 Brazil 3.

It could easily have been 6-0.Ghana have not have a single sight at goal. They even have not enter Brazil 18 yards not to talk of shooting at goal.

At this stage when they played Senegal and Nigeria, Brazil were already a goal down.

How Equaveon lost to this average team is what we Nigerians can never forgive him with Amaju.

    Anyway, I wish Ghana well
