Int’l Friendly: Musa, Uzoho, Ozornwafor To Start Against Cameroon

Gernot Rohr has revealed that the trio of Ahmed Musa, Francis Uzoho and Valentine Ozornwafor will start for the Super Eagles in Tuesday’s friendly game against Cameroon.

Rohr made this known after the team’s training session on Monday in preparation for the second friendly in Austria.

Uzoho was an unused substitute in the first game against the Indomitable Lions while Musa and Ozornwafor came on in the second half.

And ahead of Tuesday’s game, Rohr discloses that the three players will be in the starting eleven.

“Observations are positive because some of the players who arrived from Nigeria were not so fit for the first game. They have now recovered well and we should be better physically,” he told Super Eagles media.

“There will be some changes in the team, Francis Uzoho will be in goal, (Ahmed) Musa will start because he is fit, we lost Troost-Ekong so Valentine (Ozornwafor) will come in for the first time.

“There matches are made to test some players who have not played so much and also to have new organization maybe try something different and we want to win it also because we have never won in Austria after four games.“

Rohr went on to state that winning the game is not the priority of his team but what the new players can offer.

He added:“The most important thing is not the result, the most important is to progress to learn to work. We have 16 players who could not come, five central defenders, two defensive midfielders (Joe) Aribo, (Frank) Onyekuru, all the strikers could not come, the wingers, (Samuel) Kalu, Henry (Onyekuru), (Victor) Osimhen, Simy (Nwankwo) and (Umar) Sadiq also could not come because of the play-offs.

“It is a different camping but we have some experience now, we are interested in the new players and what they can do in this match against Cameroon.“

If the result is not the most important thing then what stops you from giving new folks (Moffi, Olayinka, Marcus) at least 30mins of playing time. What stops you from replacing players who didn’t show up in the first game with new ones..
You are a political coach who continues to feed fans with lame excuses before and after every match. The cameroonian team is not playing to its fill strength. Like SE, they are missing their regular players.
Stop making excuses, Marcus, Olayinka and Moffi have the talent and skills to make a difference.

  • I tire ooo. What are you learning by starting the experienced players and leaving out the inexperienced ones. By now you should know what your regular players can do and focus on players who can back them up or even do better than them. But instead you find a way to play your regular players even in friendlies but you still say the result doesn’t matter. I hear you.
With ahmed musa starting im not sure any of the new forward players will start tomorrow. We will most likely see the same midfield set up even if we play 3-5-2. I just hope starting musa wont backfire, he came in, in the second half of the first march when the Cameroonians were tired and did well but now that he is starting when they are still strong and alert lets hope it goes well for him. I also want to see the performance of the left footed central defender. We need simon’s strength down the wings be it right or left. Maybe iwobi and simon will be the right and left wing backs respectively in a 3-5-2 formation, with ahmed musa partnering paul up front. The starting line-up could look like this

    UZOHO

    IZU. AWAZIEM. VALENTINE.

    IWOBI. ETEBO. NDIDI. SIMON.

    IHEANACHO

    PAUL. MUSA

    LETS SEE HOW IT GOES!

According to owngoal.com, the starting line up is like this.

      UZOHO
      VALENTINE, AWAZIEM, IZU
      SHEHU, SIMON
      ETEBO, IWOBI, NDIDI
      PAUL, MUSA

3-5-2 formation, with Shehu and Simon as wing backs.

I think this team should do better than the last one. I just hope the new defenders will perform. I also hope to see Moffy and Marcus early enough.

So you mean aging Musa over fresh Moffi should partner Onuachu. Wonders will never end Musa was invited not play at first against Lesotho yet he played now Musa is starting over an inform Moffi. What kind of logic is this?

Calm down bro, Musa was electric in that last match and he deserves to start today. Moreover, he will be the only experienced player on the field.

Please someone should kindly drop the link or TV channel where the match can be watched. Really don’t know y CSN is not doing this.

  • Wen I see iwobi in starting line up I think the game is lost already. He shud come in last 30mins because is energy is not good as for 90mins
