Suggestions that Nigeria international Alex Iwobi is currently nursing an injury are wide of the mark, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The future of the Hale End Academy product has been the subject of debate in recent days after he was not selected for the Toffees’ first two matches of the season against Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League) and Salford City (League Cup).

Today, Friday, the official website of Everton published training photos ahead of the visit of Semi Ajayi’s West Brom and it is confirmed that Iwobi participated in full training.

With the signings of James Rodríguez and Allan from Real Madrid and Napoli respectively, Iwobi has seen himself fall down manager Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order of wingers and midfielders at Goodison Park.

Iwobi joined Everton on transfer deadline day for a then Nigerian record transfer fee of 35 million pounds if bonuses are included, but did not live up to his expectations in terms of his goal contribution in his first season, scoring twice and providing an assist in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Though the Super Eagle has a contract with Everton until June 2024, he may consider leaving the club before the close of the transfer window if his fortunes don’t improve in the coming weeks.

@Unicorn, Iwobi was injured, according to Everton FC. It helps to do a little more research before making assertions like this.

Alex Iwobi is back in contention for Everton after recovering from a knock which kept him out of the Blues’ victories over Spurs and Salford City.
Everton centre-back pair Jarrad Branthwaite and Mason Holgate will miss the game, however.
Branthwaite sustained an ankle injury during Everton’s 3-0 win over Salford on Wednesday night, while Holgate continues to be sidelined with a toe injury.
West Brom winger Matt Phillips and defender Conor Townsend are in contention having returned from injury in the Baggies’ Carabao Cup victory over Harrogate Town on Wednesday.
Midfielder Conor Gallagher, who joined West Brom earlier this week on a season-long loan from Chelsea, could make his debut.
Fellow signing Branislav Ivanovic is not expected to feature, however, as he to builds up to match fitness

Iwobi on the bench against West Brom. He’s an integral part of Ancelotti’s squad and will have his chance to prove his mettle.

Hopefully, playing alongside quality players with good organisation should bring out the best in his performances.
