Kabasele Eager For Success In ‘Most Important Week’

Kabasele Eager For Success In ‘Most Important Week’

Defender Christian Kabasele is eager to play in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Wolves in what he feels is a vital week for Watford.

The 28-year-old put in a superb display at the heart of the rearguard on Saturday but could do nothing to prevent Manchester United securing a fortunate 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

It was the Belgium international’s 17th Premier League appearance of an excellent season for the Hornets who sit 10th but are just one point behind seventh-placed Wolves.

Winning the mini-battle to be top club outside the big six would be a fillip for the Hertfordshire outfit but they are also still in with a chance of silverware, with a date at Wembley to take on Nuno Espirito Santo’s men this weekend.

Kabasele feels the Watford players will be trying to impress manager Javi Gracia this week to gain selection for the Wembley showpiece – and he is no different. “Everybody wants to play this kind of game,” he told the club’s official website. “The semi-final of the FA Cup – it’s not every year that you have the possibility to play this game. “We have a very, very good squad, everybody is pushing for a place, and it’s good for the team.”

There will be top-flight football at Vicarage Road once again next season, with 43 points already on the board, but Kabasele insists nobody will be taking their foot off the gas during such an important part of the campaign. “I think it’s the most important week of the season,” he added. “We secured the Premier League for next season quite early, so we need to put some new targets. “The target is seventh place and the FA Cup final, so we’re going to work very hard to keep this.”
