Kada City Edge Bendel Insurance On Penalties To Win NNL Title

Kada City have emerged winners of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight tournament after they defeated Bendel Insurance 4-3 on penalties on Thursday after full time scores ended 1-1, reports Completesports.com.

Emmanuel Uangode put Bendel Insurance in the lead before Kabiru Sanusi restored parity for Kada City.

Both teams tried to find the winner within the regulation time, but to no avail and the game went into a penalty shoot-out.

Both finalist, Bendel Insurance and Kada City emerged tops in Northern and Southern groups respectively at the competition.

Kada City recorded two draws and a win while Bendel Insurance won all of their three group games to advance to the final.

Both teams will be joined in the top flight of Nigerian football – the Nigeria Professional Football League (NNL) by Gombe United and Remo Stars who finished second in their respective groups.

Meanwhile, all four teams promoted to the Nigeria Professional Football League will not take part in the first round of matches of the 2019 season as their games were postponed to give teams time to get ready for the top league.
