Kane Says Spurs Have Not Learned From Errors

Tottenham striker Harry Kane says his team are failing to learn from their past mistakes following Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Olympiakos.

Spurs went 2-0 up in their first Champions League group match of the season after Harry Kane won and converted a penalty before Lucas Moura’s emphatic finish appeared to seal the points for last season’s runners up after just 30 minutes.

However, the Greek side were let back into the contest shortly before half time thanks to Daniel Podence’s good finish.

They then found an equaliser when Mathieu Valbuena converted a spot kick of his own after being fouled by Jan Vertonghen, and the match finished on level terms.

It proved to be a very frustrating reintroduction to life in the Champions League for Spurs who now face the prospect of hosting Bayern Munich in two weeks’ time.

Spurs had more possession in the game but could only manage five shots on target against the disciplined Greek side led by manager Pedro Martins.

After the game, Kane said that he understood why boss Mauricio Pochettino was left so frustrated and criticised his team for not correcting their mistakes. “You can see why the manager is frustrated,” said the England striker.

“He has been here for five years now and we are still making similar mistakes as we were the first year. “We are not young any more, we are not inexperienced. We have played in big games for club and country.”

Spurs have made an indifferent start to the new season after picking up eight points from five games, though sit third with a clutch of teams in close proximity.

The Lilywhites defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday in their best win of the season so far thanks to two goals from Son Heung-min, one from Erik Lamela, and an own goal from Patrick van Aanholt.
They are next in Premier League action on Saturday as they travel to Leicester City.
