Kidd No Plans To Retire

Brian Kidd turns 70 years old in May but is expected to remain a member of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff next season.

The former European Cup winner with Manchester United, who was also once assistant boss to Sir Alex Ferguson, has been at the Etihad since 2009.

Kidd also played for the Citizens in the late 1970s and has been on the first-team bench under former City managers, Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini.

There has been chatter of Kidd’s possible retirement as he approaches his seventh decade, although City chiefs behind the scenes have been given no indication the Manchester-born legend is planning to call it quits this summer.

Guardiola sees Kidd as an important link to City’s past and they enjoy working together alongside assistant coach Mikel Arteta, who missed out on the main Arsenal job last year.

Kidd is on the training ground every day and the first-team continue to see him as a vital bridge to Guardiola, with also a unique sounding board as a result of his vast footballing experience.
