Crystal Palace youngster Nya Kirby is confident he can keep improving after scoring his first goal for Blackpool last weekend. The 19-year-old scored his first professional goal in the 2-2 draw against League One leaders Luton Town.

Kirby has found game time hard to come by this season, with Saturday’s game just his second start for the Seasiders. The Islington-born midfielder joined in January and is now hoping to push on before returning to Palace for pre-season training.
He told the Blackpool Gazzette: “The family were here. I’m a London boy, so quite a few of them came. “It’s been frustrating (not to play more) but it’s good that I’ve now got my shot, got my start, and hopefully I’ve shown enough to start the next game.
“It’s down to the manager but hopefully I can start again. Starting every game has been my aim since I’ve come here but it’s taken longer than I had hoped. “I’ve kept in contact with Mark Bright at Crystal Palace and he’s just told me to stay patient because my time will come.”
