Klopp Optimistic Over Liverpool Trio

Jurgen Klopp expects Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren and James Milner to feature when Liverpool face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The Reds will head into the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in Germany having been held to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at Anfield last month.

Right-back Alexander-Arnold featured in the first leg, but there had been doubts surrounding his fitness after he was forced off with a muscle issue during the latter stages of Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

However, the England international has trained since then and Klopp has now confirmed he should be available for Wednesday’s match at the Allianz Arena. “It looks good.

He had a bit of a problem obviously but it should not be a major concern,” he told the Liverpool website.

Midfielder Milner missed the victory over Burnley with a similar problem, but he should also come back into contention while centre-back Lovren, who was on the bench against the Clarets, could feature for the first time since January following a hamstring problem. “He [Lovren] trained in a normal way this morning and he is an option,” Klopp added.

“To play 90 minutes might be a bit much but we will see.” Virgil van Dijk missed the first leg due to suspension but he will be available on Wednesday night, although Naby Keita will not feature as he has been left on Merseyside due to what has been described as a ‘slight’ injury.
