A late Ronald Araujo goal earned Barcelona a point against struggling Granada on Monday night at the Camp Nou.

Ronald Koeman’s charges were eager to restore some pride after their 3-0 home loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League last week.

Going into the fixture, Granada were looking for their first win of the season after losing two and drawing two of their four games played.

But the LaLiga giants got off to the worst possible start as Granada scored after just two minutes as Domingos Duarte nodded home a cross from Escudero for his first goal of the season.

With chances in the box hard to come by, Sergi Roberto went close to breaking the deadlock with a snapshot from the edge of the box that sailed just wide of the upright.

That proved to be the trend for the remainder of the first half for Koeman’s side and the Dutch tactician was forced to make a change before the interval, with the young Alex Balde forced with an injury and replaced by Oscar Mingueza.

Barca came out with a better approach in the second half that saw Sergino Dest and Memphis Depay combined before the latter saw his goal-bound effort blocked in the box.

With Barcelona struggling to get the opening goal, the in-effective Philippe Coutinho was withdrawn for 17-year-old Gavi while Riqui Puig and Gerard Pique was introduced on 73 minutes.

The hosts should have levelled matters in the 79th minute when Ronald Araujo got on the end of Depay’s cross, but the defender’s header sailed just wide of the mark.

Araujo would go on to make the impact 10 minutes later with a close-range header from Gavi’s clipped cross in the box, but the hosts were unable to get another as the spoils were shared on the night.

The draw means Barca are now in 7th place on eight points while Granada are in 17th on three points.
