Lam Expects Fast Start From Wigan

Adrian Lam has called for his Wigan Warriors side to make a fast start when they host Hull FC in Super League on Sunday. The Warriors have fallen behind in all three matches they have contested this season, most notably during their 20-8 defeat to the Sydney Roosters in last week’s World Club Challenge.

Wigan have only been able to bounce back and win one of those games – their 34-16 victory over Leeds Rhinos earlier this month – and Lam has now called for his players to buck that trend by scoring the first points of Sunday’s match at the DW Stadium. “The goal this week is to score first, which we’ve not done yet,” Lam was quoted as saying by Wigan Today.

It has been suggested that Wigan may suffer from a World Club Challenge hangover when they take on a Hull side yet to register a point in Super League this season, but Lam has been quick to dismiss that notion. “I don’t believe that because we’ve every reason to want to play and want to win this game,” Lam retorted. “If they feel as a player they won’t be up for it, we don’t want them a part of the squad.”
Wigan have won their last four matches against Hull FC although they only claimed a narrow 14-12 success when they last met in September.
