Aymeric Laporte is set to sign an improved five-year deal worth £120,000-per-week – 12 months after his arrival from Athletic Bilbao. Manchester City chiefs have confirmed the club have opened discussions with the impressive Frenchman, who was signed for £57million and has not missed a single Premier League game this season.
Laporte has quickly established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain has met with his representatives in recent days.
It’s understood the powerful 24-year-old currently earns £85,000-per-week and the player is more than keen to commit himself to the Citizens’ new package.

Eyebrows continue to be raised inside the Etihad as to why Laporte has been overlooked by France boss Didier Deschamps, with suggestions in his homeland that his Basque background has clouded his commitment.
It is certainly true Spain would like to recruit the player, who has previously represented France at various youth levels, and City feel it is important to underline their own faith in Laporte by now rewarding him on the financial front.
