Pellegrini Admits Wilshere Uncertainty

Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he is unsure when Jack Wilshere will return for West Ham from his ongoing ankle injury. The 30-year-old has been suffering with the issue for the majority of the campaign having appeared to have got over the problem last season, as he made 38 appearances.

However, Wilshere has made just one brief substitute appearance since September 1 and has been given a prolonged period of rest in a bid to clear up his problem.

There were recent suggestions that he will not be seen again this season, but Pellegrini insists a clearer picture on his comeback will be known in the next seven days.

The Chilean said: “We will analyse Jack Wilshere next week, then we will be more clear about his future.”

Pellegrini did have some good news as playmaker Manuel Lanzini is in contention for his first appearance of the season against Fulham on Friday night.
The Argentinian has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury while on international duty before the World Cup.
But Lanzini has been training for the last couple of weeks and could make a welcome return at the London Stadium.
