Law Digs Deep To Win Vic Open

Scotland’s David Law produced an eagle on the 18th hole to win his maiden European Tour title at the Vic Open in Australia. Law was three shots back on the 16th tee but he made a birdie to turn the screw on long-time leader Wade Ormsby.

Ormsby was obviously feeling the pressure as he then double bogeyed the 17th to surrender the initiative.

Law produced a stunning approach shot on the final hole to claim an eagle and, after Ormsby could only birdie the last rather than secure the eagle he needed to force a play-off, he claimed his first title by one shot on his 18th European Tour appearance.

Brad Kennedy finished at 17-under alongside countryman Ormsby, while South Africa’s Justin Harding finished on his own in fourth.
After his win, Law told reporters: “We stood on the tee and we said we need to make eagle. We had to go for it, so I sort of took a bit off a hybrid and lucky it went to eight-10 feet. “At the time I was just trying to get into solo second. It’s an amazing event, we’ve loved it all week.”
