Newly-promoted Lecce have completed the signing of Romania international Romario Benzar from Steaua Bucharest. The 27-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Stadio Via del Mare, with Lecce reportedly paying £2million to secure his services.
Benzar had been a regular for Steaua after joining the club from Viitorul Constanta in 2017 and he has represented his country on 15 occasions, most recently in the 4-1 victory over the Faroe Islands back in March.
The move to Lecce represents Benzar’s first switch away from his homeland and he joins a Lecce side that is preparing for their first season back in Serie A since 2012 after they finished second in Serie B last term. The Giallorossi have certainly been busy in the transfer market over recent days as Ukraine international Yevhen Shakhov has also joined the club after arriving on a free transfer from PAOK Salonika.
