Leicester Assistant Coach Davies Backs Iheanacho To Shine In New Season

Leicester City assistant coach, Chris Davies, believes Kelechi Iheanacho can be a resourceful player for the club in the EPL next season after the forward netted a brace in Saturday’s pre-season friendly 2-2 draw at Rotherham United, reports Completesports.com.

Iheanacho has bounced back from a difficult spell last season, scoring three goals in his last two games for the Foxes.

A delighted Davies also heaps plaudits on the former Manchester City player who was omitted from Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt due to his poor club form.

“(I’m) Very pleased,” Davies said after Saturday’s game at the New York Stadium.

“Kel (Iheanacho) is a threat. He’s got a lot of attribute, (he’s) quick, strong, has a good technique, he’s a finisher, and it’s difficult.

“He’s playing second fiddle really to one of the Premier League’s best striker’s in Vards, so he has to be patient, he has to do his best to develop himself through training.

“He’s been doing that. He’s come back hungry and strong, he scored a hat-trick in a pre-season training game the other day and now he’s done that today.

“He scored two, he could have had more and to be fair the goals he did score, he took them very well. There are a couple more he could have scored but we need goals and it’s really promising.”

Hardy a great player indeed but what Nacho needs to do is to take his chances when he gets the chance.
Apparently,he failed to take his chances last season which affected his confidence but with goals in pre season and a good rest off season Iheanacho looks good to go this season.
Jamie Vardy is not indespensible. No one is.What Nacho needs to do is to raise his game and score more.A 22 years old will likely be preferred to start games ahead of a 32 if both are firing because of the long term gain.
Goodluck Nacho for the new season.

Nacho always has that thing in him. He only needed to focus, show hunger, aggression n that no nonsense attitude. Great to see Nacho come back. He should let that anger of missing out of AFcon drive him to greater heights. Also great to see what Akpom is doing. God bless these players.

Iheanacho has always done well in pre season,I guess reason is simply because he is given playing time, when the season starts and he gets only ample playing time, it becomes difficult to make an instant impact unlike the Man City days that he can come off few minutes to the end a game and still be able to sneak a goal in.
Bottom line, if he gets playing time he will deliver, but when u keep on the bench he will loose his confidence again and probably get fatter…lol

Iheanacho has been promising until in recent times when he become really blunt. I was disappointed.

Rodger and Davies, his coach and assistant have been saying good about his new found form. They need to give him the opportunities to prove himself and I hope he did because first impression matters. He needs to take his chances and continue in that to remain relevant.

He was given chances last season but never took them. The coaches are not to blame for his circumstances.
This season he sure will get chances but down to him to prove to the coaches his relevance to the team.

Dropping him from the AFCON team was the right tonic to fire him to do well. The precocious talent he has is not in doubt for everyone who knows Nacho. He has great technique, strength and shooting ability. What he needs to do is work hard and he will have a memorable season.
