Liberia Coach Butler Shuns Training Ahead Of Super Eagles Clash

Lone Stars of Liberia head coach Peter James Butler shunned the team’s training on Wednesday over contract dispute, Completesports.com reports.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) announced last week that the former Botswana coach will sign a new one-year deal after his previous contract expired early August.

Assistant coach Christopher Wreh, goalkeeping coach Sunday Seah, administrative manager Sebastian Collins, and kitman Tommy Johnson were also retained.

Completesports.com however scooped from a reliable source close to the team that Butler is yet to sign the new contract and may not travel with the team to Nigeria if the issue is sorted out.

The 54-year-old has been in charge of the Liberia national team since 2019, and also got a one-year contract extension in August 2020.

27 players are already in camp for next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Central Africa Republic.

The Lone Stars will face the Super Eagles on September 3 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Wonderful 27players already in camp. What league do they play football? Nigeria should be scoring 7 against these teams.

When is our list of players coming out? Arent the matches next week? Something seems out of place. I’m wondering if it’s because of the English league palaver or perhaps NFF mago mago. Either way I would have expected our list to be out by now sha

@Dr.Drey… @Pompei… @Ayphillydegreat… I have a question. Midfielders are being added to the invitation list… I just read about Nwobodo and Kingsley Michael… I have not seen Kelly Nwakali! Can there be a plausible reason for this? Nwakali ended last season high and is doing fine shifts for SD Huesca so far this season… Zeus can you help out? @Dr.Drey… I hope you know the name Zeus echoes the mystic figure of some Greek god… I hope you see that as a form of reverence and not slight! Lol… I am fashioning out some tight names for @Ayphillydegreat next and then @Oakfield… those guys just wait for my comments to dart me… it’s all fun anyways!

I’m surprise to that the list is not out. Barely a week to the all important game against Liberia. This is a cause for concern. We only hear Rohr speaking to journalist everyday but no any concrete plan has been shown for these qualifiers. NFF please we need to know what is happening. Many african countries have named their squad except Nigeria.
