Fabio Liverani has warned his Lecce bosses that he will need up to 10 new signings ahead of their return to Serie A next season. The Giallorossi have not been in the Italian top-flight for the past seven seasons, but were promoted behind Serie B champions Brescia this past season.

And, while Liverani believes some of his players could surprise him and hold their own against the top teams, he feels the club must invest in some experienced Serie A campaigners in order to survive. “We won’t be able to make 16 signings, but we’d like to bring in at least 8-10 new players,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“The squad has many players who could potentially be surprise packages next season, but we’ll see on the pitch whether they are up for the challenge, myself included.” Napoli defender Sebastiano Luperto is one player who has been linked, but Liverani played down the chances of taking him to the Stadio Via del Mare.
He added: “He’s a player who fits into our parameters, but there’s no use saying he’ll come now. “I tell the sporting director which positions need reinforcing, then it’s he who identifies the names.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
