Liverpool Edge Chelsea At Anfield To Regain EPL Top Spot

Two second half goals in two minutes and 20 seconds from Saido Mane and Mohammed Salah saw Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield to reclaim top spot in the English Premier League on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

The win ended Chelsea’s eight-game unbeaten run at Anfield.

Liverpool, now on 85 points, are two points clear of Manchester City who have a game in hand with four rounds of games left to play in the EPL.

Both teams created few chances at the start of the game with Liverpool getting two shots on target in the first half.

In the second half Mane headed home Liverpool’s opener in the 51st minute following a slick move down the left flank.

Two minutes later Salah fired a 25-yard angled effort into the top right corner to double the Reds’ lead.

Eden Hazard came close twice to draw the Blues level, first with his shot that hit the post and another saved by Alisson.

Liverpool’s next league match is away to Cardiff City next Sunday. But before then, they have to see through the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Porto.

Chelsea on their part are also in European action in midweek. They will host Slavia Prague at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final, before taking on Burnley eight days from now on in the Premier League.

Why is Salah not the number 0ne goal scorer in Africa today ?He is not a problem. Our Oinbo- well will take care of him if we ever meet Egypt at any time during the AFCON
