Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman was on target again as Atalanta defeated visiting Sampdoria 2-0 in the Serie A on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.
It was Lookman’s 12th goal in his debut season in Serie A, just one goal behind Victor Osimhen.

I said it before and I will say it again. This was a good move for Lookman, upwards movement. Lookman, found a permanent home, instead of moving around a the time.
He was on loan for a couple of seasons. To a terrible fullham team where Scott Parker didn’t like scoring. He now got fired from bournmouth when they were in relegation zone and now doing better. Mitrovic only scored 3 goals under him, where right now he has 11 goals. To leicester team where he did a little bit better, scored more but came of the bench. Brendan Rogers evem said he wished he signed Lookman. And now to Atalanta. I mean they’re always in uefa competitions, but not now currently
.
Osimhen and Lookman thriving outside of the premier league and it should stay that way. Africans have a better success rate outside of the premier league. Osimhen has to win a trophy this season. Champions league and or serie a, something. Same for Lookman, he should seal a top 4 position to play in the champions league and or also win Coppa Italia.
The most beautiful part of the goal was the way he left his marker for dead almost at the half way line……sampdoria where playing a high line and once Lookman beat his marker there was space to move into and he did just that……Another part is the quality of the shot he took which is just world class……pin point accuracy with alot of venom in it……. Lookman has improved alot since he settled at Atalanta…… Atalanta has one of the most talented team in the SeriaA and for Lookman to stand out in that team it says alot about his quality…….Am so happy he chose Nigeria and I only wish we can use him to devastating effect like Atalanta is doing at the moment.
ATALANTA in Yoruba means PEPPER IS WHAT WE ARE SELLING.
True to this name, their opponents have been SMELLING PEPPER, especially in the last month, with heavy spankings like the 10-1 demolition of Crema, the 5-2 thrashing of Spezia, and the 8-2 demolition of Ekong’s Salernitana (thankfully that happened before he joined them).
Lookman has played a prominent role in all these pepper sales. And he did it again today. What a goal! Contender for Serie A goal of the season, me thinks. Even the commentator had to scream “THIS BOY IS SOMETHING SPECIAL!”. Is Southgate scratching his head in regret somewhere in England right now?
Looks like England’s loss is Nigeria’s gain!
I was also impressed with the left winger Jeremie Boga. Ivory Coast have got themselves a gem of a player in that guy.
Great finish again from a great player!
Ademola Lookman, no doubt is enjoying a new lease of life in the Serie A, after many sojourn at different clubs.
The former 3 Lions of England under 20 world cup champion has been an embodiment of great talents from his days at little known Charlton Athletic: great pace, great precision and excellent foot walk. However, with the nature of the Italian league, not many gave him a chance of a headstart. His goalscoring form has blossomed his confidence level ahead of games and such was his calmness and composure on the ball, particularly in front of goal. What he seems to lack in power play and strong physicality, he more than makes up for in his technical brilliance and shooting range. Worthy of mention is his aerial threats in front of goal; he’s shown remarkable aerial awareness leading up to his headed goal, last weekend.
Needless to say, Serie A has become a home to a number of Nigerian contingents with the likes of Okereke, Cyriel Dessrs, Ola Aina, Tyrone Ebuehi, Isaac Success and lately, Troost Ekong, all holding their own.
Lookman’s present form and quality combined with Osimhen’s sizzling awe inspiring form for Napoli is expected to spur the Super Eagles to great success at the next AFCON, barring any injury and with the right mix
We should celebrate the form of our strikers with caution and less expectations, i keep reiterating. You cannot win a tournament without a competent goal keeper. Argentina proved it in the last world cup. While both France and Argentina had good strikers Argentina’s goalkeeper was better and that settled the matter. I cringe at the taught that SE Coaches still cannot spot a National team goal keeper over 6years since Eyeama premature retirement. Even with eleven Victor Osimnens on the pitch SE fans will continue to have heart breaks until this department is sorted out.
Do you have any one to recommend?
That’s the job of the coaches. That’s what they are paid for.
Tidy finish long may it continue.
E pain Sky sports this morning so tay dem deliberately call Lookman “the third best Englishman goalscorer after Kane and…”.
Na keeper remain to discover for us.
If we look again and again of how Uzoho performed against Manchester United last year, He is still the best hands for Nigeria at this present time. Nigeria needs strong defenders to protect the goalkeeper. Morocco goalkeeper was an outstanding one too.
In the meantime, let’s keep on encouraging the young Uzoho until another keeper emerges. Nigeria defenders are the weakest links in our Nation’s team. Some of them tends to score against Uzoho really.
