Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, Paul Onuachu and Asisat Oshoala have been nominated for The Best FIFA Awards 2024.
The Nigerian quartet will battle it out with other nominees in the various categories announced by FIFA on Friday.
Lookman is included in the 22-man shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s 11 in the attackers category, while Troost-Ekong will battle it out with 21 others in the defenders category.
Lookman is nominated in the attackers category alongside notable names like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Vinicius Junior, Bukayo Saka, Lautaro Martinez, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
Aside Troost-Ekong, other players shortlisted in the defenders category are Gabriel Magalhaes, Achraf Hakim, Carvajal, Alphonso Davies, William Saliba Manuel Akanji among othes.
Southampton striker Onuachu is in the running alongside 10 other nominees for the Puskas Award category.
His goal against Konyaspor in the 2023-24 Super Lig on November 10 2023, during his loan at Trabzonspor, was shortlisted.
Oshoala, who now plays for NWSL club Bay FC, will contest against 10 other nominees for the FIFA Marta award.
In The Best FIFA Men’s Player category the award will be contested by 11 players.
The players are Rodri, Vinicius Junior, Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.
Others are Florian Wirtz, Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde.
For The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper category, Andriy Lunin, David Raya, Ederson, Emiliano Martinez, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Mike Maignan and Unai Simon are in contention.
While The Best FIFA Men’s Coach is between Carlo Ancelotti, Lionel Scaloni, Luis de la Fuentes, Pep Guardiola and Xabi Alonso.
The Best FIFA Women’s Player category has 16 nominees with Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Tabitha Chawinga of Malawi included.
Other categories are The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach,FIFA Fan Award and FIFA Fair Play Award.
The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024 will be held in January 2025.
