‘Lots Of Positives To Take’ —Iwobi Reacts To Eagle’ Loss To Mexico In Friendly

‘Lots Of Positives To Take’ —Iwobi Reacts To Eagle’ Loss To Mexico In Friendly

Alex Iwobi says the Super Eagles got a lot of positives despite losing 2-1 to Mexico in a friendly game played in the early hours of Sunday in Dallas, USA.

Jose Peseiro took charge of his first game as Eagles head coach but got his reign off to a bad start.

Mexico deservedly took the lead in the 12th minute through Santiago Gimenez.

Cyriel Dessers made it 1-1 on 53 minutes after heading in a delightful cross from Calvin Bassey.

But just two minutes later an attempt to clear a cross by William Troost-Ekong ended inside the Eagles’ net to put Mexico 2-1 ahead.

Despite the loss, Iwobi believes there were positives to take from the game.

“A Lot Of Positives To Take After Today’s Friendly… We Go Again!” he wrote on Twitter
🇳🇬.”

The Eagles have now failed to beat Mexico in six meetigs, losing three and drawing three.

Next up for Peseiro and his boys is another friendly against Ecuador on June 2 in New Jersey.

Thank God I didn’t wake up to spoil my joy after Madrid has done me well.

  • Thank God that I woke up to watch the match.

There is hope for Supe eagles now.

Though, we lost due to defensive errors but with what I saw in the match, I can now say that we have coach that can read matches and make positive changes.
The result would have been draw if not for the mistake from our defender. At the same time we all know that nobody is above mistake.

God bless Super Eagles of Nigeria

God bless our new coaching crew.

    God bless Nigeria.

Nicely put brotherman. Super Eagles can do well under this coach. Heaven bless Peseiro and all deserving assistant Super Eagles coaches.

  • Just watched the Bit part of the Highlights,I can say that the left footed guy by Name Ishak Kayode should start in the next match,I love his left foot. The coach should try maybe 433 formation Next time.

  • I know that it was a friendly games, but something needs to be done about Troost Ekong’s unnecessary errors when it matters most. He has scored more own-goals than scoring against the opponent’s. That is what is killing his game and huge talent. The new coach needs to work on his concentration and calmness when the team is under pressure.

Omo which concentration – calmness. That guy is not good enough. He should be dropped. Simple as ABC.

  • A center back is praised for doing well if he manages to help in keeping goals at bay not help his opponents in scoring into his own nets. Just how many own goals Ekong have to score playing for Nigeria before we can say enough is enough. Against Algeria, Mexico and counting. He is already in history books as our Defender with the most own goals scored. Enough of the Oyibo wall abeg.
Ekong is only good in warming the bench on match days playing for Wardford, the only time he plays competitive football is in Nigeria colours.
Have you wondered why many of the players opted out of the game even with so called a new manager when in actual sense all the players should start battling for starting positions going into next AFCON?
The truth is nothing has changed they (NFF) went for cheap option of a coach one that they can manipulate one that has more records of sacks rather than trophies.

Super Eagles are always like this. Onigbinde eagles there was hope
Ahmodu Shuaibu eagles, there was hope
Stephen keshi eagles, there was hope
Genoit rohr eagles there was hope, Samson siasia eagles, there was hope, Austin Eguavoen eagles, there was hope, Sunday Oliseh eagles, there was hope.
There was always hope, the players are always stepping up when a new coach arrives. It is called “the New Coach Effect”. They only flatter to deceive. They will soon get back to factory settings
