Mainz Coach, Schwarz: ‘Awoniyi Has Top Mentality, Ready For Bundesliga Challenge’

FSV Mainz 05 head coach, Sandro Schwarz, believes the club has made a quality addition to their squad ahead of the new season following the loan arrival of Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi from Liverpool, reports Completesports.com.

Awoniyi will spent the 2019/2020 season at the Bundesliga club after the move was made official on Thursday following a successful medical.

“Taiwo Awoniyi’s physical strength and depths makes him an immense danger in an offensive move, but he also works diligently without the ball and is always at the service of the team, with his high scoring record in Belgium a prove of his ability,” Schwarz told the Mainz 05 official website.

”In addition, Taiwo has a top mentality, is ready for the Bundesliga challenge and we are very happy that he will strengthen us in the coming year.”

Mainz sports director, Rouven Schröder is also happy with the latest addition to his team.

“Taiwo Awoniyi has always managed to assert himself and thrive in his young life. He is a fighter, a very robust player who always shows full commitment as a team player for his team,” Schroder was quoted by the club’s website.

“Taiwo is a forward with depth. He feels really comfortable in the box and is characterized by the fact that he always looks for the shortest way to the goal.

“In the discussions it was clear that he identifies himself 100% with Mainz 05 and our goals despite the loan situation. We were impressed by this challenge.”
