Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi has issued a stern warning to Anthony Joshua ahead of his showdown with Tyson Fury, predicting that Fury will secure a stoppage victory due to growing concerns over Joshua’s punch resistance.
Both heavyweights recently warmed up for their blockbuster clash with victories in July, as Fury eased to a stoppage win over Mariusz Wach, while Joshua suffered two knockdowns against the unheralded Kristian Prenga before rallying for a stoppage victory.

Speaking to Parimatch, Malignaggi pointed out that Joshua’s vulnerability against lesser-known opposition is a major red flag, warning that Fury possesses more than enough speed and power to capitalize on those defensive lapses.
“AJ’s punch resistance is concerning. He seems to be getting hurt by guys he shouldn’t be getting hurt by now,” Malignaggi stated, describing Joshua’s footwork as cumbersome compared to Fury’s fluidity and superior ring movement.
Suggesting that Fury will inevitably find his target, the analyst added: “Fury isn’t the biggest puncher, but he punches hard enough… Based on what I saw from their last fights, I would probably say a Fury stoppage, actually.”

Beyond the Fury-Joshua clash, Malignaggi argued that Daniel Dubois has officially surpassed both fighters as England’s premier heavyweight following his brutal second-round knockout of Fabio Wardley to retain his world title.
To solidify his status at the top of the division, Malignaggi urged Dubois to pursue a mega-unification rematch against Filip Hrgovic, noting that Hrgovic’s recent victory over Moses Itauma makes a second clash between the two world champions a massive global draw.
