Manchester United equalled an unwanted 40-year record after being held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The result means United have collected just six points from their first six Premier League games this season — winning only once and failing to win in their last four — their worst start to a league season since 1986, according to Squawka.
Interim manager Michael Carrick looked set to secure a much-needed win when Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead against the run of play with a neat finish in the 73rd minute.
Spurs’ afternoon got worse in the 78th minute when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for head-butting Luke Shaw, leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side with 10 men.
But despite spending over £300m in the summer, United failed to kill the game off. Tottenham, who are 18th and still without a league win after six games, refused to accept defeat.

Substitute Dominic Solanke silenced Old Trafford in the 92nd minute, heading home the equaliser to earn Spurs a point.
The draw leaves United 12th in the table, just three points above the bottom three, while Spurs stay 18th.
After the game De Zerbi said: “I am very happy because I have seen the right spirit and character. We suffered in the game. We have not accepted the defeat.”
For Carrick, who saw his side also lose to Manchester City when they had a man short, pressure is now mounting, with early sack calls already emerging from fans.
