Edinson Cavani has been slammed with a two-game international ban for his horror tackle on Richarlison during Uruguay’s defeat by Brazil last November.
Cavani has had to wait months to find out what punishment he would face and it was ruled that the nasty stamp warranted two games on the sidelines.
In the 71st minute of the World Cup qualifier, Cavani chased Richarlison from behind and put his foot in to try and stab the ball free.

But he missed the ball completely and landed squarely on Richarlison’s ankle.
Initially the referee deemed the offence worthy of a yellow card but was advised by VAR to check again on the pitchside monitor.
He was then sent off and Uruguay lost 2-0 at home against the five-time world champions.
After the game Richarlison was asked about the tackle and said: “It was a ball dispute and of course he went over the top.
“If my foot was planted there on the floor, maybe it could even have broken my ankle.
“But I don’t think he meant it. I think he went there to get the ball but missed and took my foot. It’s a normal game situation.”
Richarlison himself landed in hot water for a reckless challenge of his own earlier in the season when he was sent off for a horrible lunge on Thiago during the Merseyside derby.
