Mane Bags Brace As Senegal Hammer Brazil 4-2 In Friendly Game

Sadio Mane scored twice as African champions Teranga Lions of Senegal beat Brazil 4-2 in a friendly in Lisbon, Portugal.

Brazil have now lost three of their last four games against African teams.

The five-time World Cup champions lost 1-0 to Cameroon in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In March this year, they lost 2-1 to Morocco in a friendly game in Tanger.

Just three days ago, the Selecao hammered Guinea 4-1 in another friendly game.

In Tuesday’s friendly with Senegal, West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta put Brazil ahead in the 11th minute, before Habib Diallo equalised for Senegal on 22nd minute.

An own goal from Marquinhos in the 52nd minute gave Senegal a 2-1 lead with Mane making it 3-1 in the 57 minutes.

Marquinhos scored in the 58th minute to make it 3-2 before Mane got Senegal’s fourth from the penalty spot on 97 minutes.

I watched this match, and Senegal (champions of Africa) made Africa proud, they defeated Brazil. Coming from behind to win 4-2 with two goals from Mane, a beautiful curved shot into the top corner and a penalty.
In the end Brazil was reduced to diving and fouling.
Senegal is beating Brazil while the SE are struggling to defeat Sierria Leone. I can’t even imagine the thrashing that Senegal would give Sierria leone should their paths cross.

Football is not like that my friend.

Why didn’t they trash Benin last weekend? it was a 1-1 draw. Soccer is not mathematics.

    • If you put Brasil or Senegal on that pitch that day with SL the results won’t be much different my dear friend….. African teams who desperately need results simply drag Super Eagles to very bad pitches to give them a favourable odd against us while the NFF don’t even bother to protest because their pockets is of utmost importance to them.

    • And our own super chickens and useless NFF couldn’t secure a friendly match for us. Later na dem go boast pass

@Tristian, Seems to understand that football is not mathematics and moreover, AFrican football has grown . Morocco beat many heavy at the world cup leaving many feeling that they will easily win the next AFCON but 3days ago south Africa pip them before their fans at home. So beating Brazil does not translate to beating a physical side like sierra lone OK.

Not just South Africa, Morocco was held to a 0-0 draw by Cape Verde in Casablanca last week.

This is the same Senegal that Rohr kept at bay, holding them 1-1.
    Rohr critics, how market?

Saka is scoring hatricks for England while Chukwueze is busy playing primary school football for Nigeria. Yet he wants to play in top teams in Europe. I laugh in Buharia

      Mane is over rated

      • Saka would have played rubbish on that Liberia stadium, probably ending up with serious knee/ankle injury. We should stop this witch hunting of our very dedicated players. These guys are making lots of sacrifices to bring joy to Fans despite the numerous odds. PLAYERS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES SUCH SAKA ARE LUCKY TO BE PLAYING WITHOUT MAJORITY OF THESE ODDS, SO IT MAKES NO SENSE COMPARING. WAZZA DAZZLER CHUZZY REMAINS A FANTASTIC TALENT AND NIGERIA IS LUCKY TO HAVE HIM .

  • TALK UR OWN 11 months ago

IS IT ONLY NIGERIA THAT PLAYED AFCON QUALIFIER IN AFRICA THIS MONTH, THEN WHAT STOPPED THEM PLAY NOT TO PLAY FRIENDLY MATCH DURING FIFA WINDOW LIKE ALGERIA, SENEGAL TUNISIA, CAMEROON DID.

    • If you ask me, na who I go ask? U no hear say NFF last week pull out Nigeria from wafu under 20 tournament (local one oh)? CS no carry am else you for weep for Nigeria. Glass house can never give what they don’t have

  • I will tell you all Nigeria has going back to the days of Pre Stephen Keshi when we did not play friendlies when other Countries were playing. Nigeria under Pinnick started well but regressed so much so that there is no funds for Logistical travels.

How then Can this over ego tistical country call itself GIANT OF AFRICA. when other more humble countries like Senegal et all can fly thier stars in for games and take care off them Senegal can utilise all thier International stars. Nicolas Jackson just had his break out season for Villareal wanted by big clubs and needs international exposure for that move to marterialise Cisse knows this and includes him in the squad to help this boys career (If it was Nigeria well they will say we have Osimhen and they will leave the boy out) as he knows it will improve his profile and that of Senegal. Senegal cares about thier football and it shows beating Brazil.

Nigeria is no GIANT OF AFRICA WE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF OVER EGOTISTICAL NOISE MAKERS!

Soccer in African is very difficult. Two months ago, Morocco beat Brazil 2-1 in a friendly. Last week Cape Verde held them to a 0-0 draw in Casablanca, then last weekend they lost 2-1 to South Africa.

    • Granted. But the Eagles you just watched beat a highly ranked team like Brazil when they lost ALL of their friendlies with mid placed ranked teams within the last year having a foreign coach to boot (Senegal still has a local one)?

Can’t we even arrange a mediocre friendly with even countries that are like San Marino to boost ego? Oh, is it because NFF is deceiving us that it costs at least 300m to organize a match for eagles when host countries can even take care of our team?

We are not getting it right after the highs of 1994 and the rest of Africa is leaving us far behind. We are progressing backwards in 2023 and there is no respite because we have a youthful squad of unmotivated, uninspiring players and crew and NFF
