Saints misfit Sofiane Boufal is interested in joining Marseille and his agent reportedly spoke to their sporting director last week.
L’Equipe claim Marseille chief Andoni Zubizarreta met the representative of the former Lille star – currently playing for Morocco at the African Cup of Nations – at the end of last week.
Marseille are looking to replace left-winger Lucas Ocampos, who joined Sevilla this week, and Boufal is understood to be interested in the challenge on offer at the Ligue 1 giants.
Boufal, who is under contract in Southampton until 2021, was loaned to Celta Vigo last season, where he played 35 Liga matches – scoring three goals and recording four assists.
The 25-year-old had a bust up with former Saints boss Mark Hughes in April 2018 and subsequently fell out of favour at St Mary’s.
