Moffi, Simon Nominated For Marc-Vivien Award

Nigerian duo, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon are in the running for the Marc-Vivien Foe award in France.

The award is for the best African Player in the French top-flight.

Moffi, who scored his 50th goal in the French top-flight last weekend, was also nominated for the award last season.

The forward has scored 10 goals in 23 league appearances for Nice this season.

Simon netted thrice and registered six assists in 22 league appearances for Nantes before he was injured on international duty last month.

The winger has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Only two Nigerian players, Vincent Enyeama and Victor Osimhen have won the award in the past.

Nine other players are also in contention for the award.

They are Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille), Algerian duo Nabil Bentaleb (Lille) and Amine Gouiri (Stade Rennes), Morocco’s PSG star Achraf Hakimi and Senegal’s Lamine Camara (Metz).

Others are last season’s winner and DR Congo’s Chancel Mbemba (Marseille), Ivory Coast’s Oumar Diakite (Reims), Moffi’s Nice teammate Burundian Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Wilfried Singo of Monaco.

The winner of the award will be announced on Monday, May 13, 2024.
