Molde Set For Big Pay-Out

Molde Set For Big Pay-Out

Molde are reportedly entitled to £5m in compensation should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be offered the permanent Manchester United job.

The Norwegian is increasingly being seen at Old Trafford as the man to lead them back to the very top, having arrived as caretaker manager in late December following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Insiders familiar with the agreement the 45-year-old reached with his parent club Molde have insisted there was a financial release clause in the contract extension he signed only last year, which enabled him to leave if his former club ever did come calling.

It is understood Molde have fully protected themselves and will be entitled to demand the full £5m compensation figure if their man now remains a permanent fixture in Manchester.

Solskjaer is said to earn a ‘modest’ amount of around £20,000-per-week at Molde, with United ready to pay him an annual salary closer to £7m-per-year.

United certainly want to keep up their excellent relations with Molde and will consider the compensation demand a small price to pay, certainly in comparison to the £40m it would cost to prise Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham Hotspur.
