Musa, Onuachu In Contention To Lead Super Eagles Attack Vs Algeria

Ahmed Musa and Paul Onuachu are in contention to lead Nigeria’s attack in Friday’s friendly against African champions Algeria , Completesports.com reports.

The team’s leading marksman Victor Osimhen is unavailable for the game and head coach Gernot Rohr will have to pick a replacement for the Napoli striker.

Captain of the side, Ahmed Musa bagged a brace in Tuesday’s training game and has been impressive in subsequent sessions.

Let Paul lead the forward i bliv he will surely score goals. Onuachu is the man

  • Meanwhile, Southgate has sealed Saka’s fate by captying him this night. Played 76 minutes. Meanwhile, neither Tomori nor Tammy Abraham could even make the match day squad. SMH, Southgate on a determined mission to destroy the international careers of English-born Nigerians since 1900. SMH. Some people will never learn.

    • Lord AMO 4 years ago

He is not cap tied yet as this was a friendly. You can only be cap tied by playing competitive internationals. Granted it’s a mere formality as Saka has already chosen where he wants to pitch his tent

this is musa that somebody was surgesting here that he should retire, he plays in saudi arabia, he is dis and dat. now in absent of osihmen, iheanacho and dessers cannot keep the saudi man in bench he is even ahead of our three wingers including ejike. only chukueze could guarantee a spot in present of musa and thats becos he is a natural left footer. mr xfactor you can see u dont have a choice than to include a prizeless experienced musa into your dream xfactor. musa have came saw and conquered he deserves his captainship, and will be more effective alonside osihmen when the times comes. i see musa as a leader in this attack while the others will make good subs, he is to eagles what martins is to napoli. and with a powerfull 9 like osihmen musa still have alot to offer, he did it with emenike in his early days, also had great combination with ighalo, osihmen will not want to miss out of the miracle of our never rusty old jaguar. welcome back ahmed musa. may God continue to lift you high as you continue to humble your self even before your younger ones.

    • Lord AMO 4 years ago

I personally think we need to phase him out of the starting lineup because I’ve not been impressed with what he’s had to offer of late. I’ll however agree that his experience is of value to the squad but yes playing in Saudi league and not lighting it up is a reason to question his automatic inclusion in the squad

    • Now you are comparing Dries Merthens to Ahmen Musa LOOOOOL!!!!

Wonders shall never end. Since you have started Comparing the two. Let me pose a question to you.

Can Ahmed Musa make Napoli’s Bench??? Please answer. Before making Comparisons please take into consideration the Levels. Next thing you will be saying Musa is what Ronaldo is to Portugal or Juventus. @Collins id abeg park well Jare!!!!

    • Wilfred Ndidi should be the Skippo who ever feels this comment makes sense please hit Like Jare

      • Those who have hit dislike una be enemies of progress. Ndidi deserves it.

Lets look at the difference in Levels here. Leicester City struggles if Ndidi Doesn’t play, Where as Musa was Relegated to Leicester Cities under 23’s. and then they will both come home and the one who can’t even make it in a top league in Europe is captaining the Best DM in world football today. Well that just proves the context of Nigerian Society and why this country is in Shambles in all aspects of Life Not just Football

Then some people go talk say dem get sense HAHAHAHA!!!. Wonders shall never end.

Wow Nigerians never cease to amaze me.

“…who ever feels this comment makes sense please hit Like..” LMAO.

Next time you will not overate yourself.

        • Ndidi has given me more pride so far, more so than what Musa has done his entire career. Pity Musa only scores goals where it matters less. I agree his goal against Argentina in 2014 world cup made me happy, if only he kicked on from there but, as I will always maintain about Musa 1 good game then 10 bad ones. What did he do after that game nothing In fact he faded. The usual suspects at the time Victor Moses, Mikel, Emma Emenike where the ones carrying the team. Musa never really shifted gear from a Impact Sub mentality. You start Musa from 90 in big games where the stakes are high he gets stage fright. I no Know if na Juju wey they give am or something, He never pushs on from a good performance he folds under pressure.

The current Crop however have a different Drive they Thrive under pressure. I.e. Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, samuel Chukwueze, the latter who has had Much more impactful performances against Barcelona and Real Madrid). This is the energy we need in the Squad. Look at the Energy Osimhen has when he is in game mode the Passion he displays, some even Embrace Pressure look at Troost-Ekong( Deserved Captain) he has vision he knows even if he has to hustle in the championship for 1 season he will bounce back up and be in the premier league next season, what better way to acclimatise to the English game than in the English Championship. Thats the type of mentality we need that is testing your potential, who advised him Ighalo you will see why this makes sense below. look at Alex Iwobi instead of running away from Everton he decides to stay and “FIGHT” for his place thats FIGHTING SPIRIT…

Odion Ighalo had a change of heart from this playing for “money mentality” and look at what it did to his profile he even was the catalyst off Ekong’s Move to Watford because he realises what a brilliant platform that will be in assisting Ekongs Goal of Making it back to Top Flight English Premiership. Ekong Proved with that Move and his displays in Udinese that he is a more than deserving Captain than Ahmed Musa.

Yet Musa wants to rot in Saudi Arabia league and bring nothing but poor quality football to my darling Super Eagles and this is the guy you want our younger guys to be led by??????.. God Forbid! I no send ooo guy @kel I pray make e catch Fire ooo..

Wilfred Ndidi who epitomises the qualities I spoke off above, to the point that even a Top 6 Team In England struggles if he does not play
He proves and steps into leicester City Plays more games than any other in than team is the Linch pin of their Mid field and that of the Super Eagles the BEst DM in World Football does not fit the Profile of Captain of a Giant African team Nigeria.

You people are telling me that the Profile of the CAPTAIN OF MY DARLING SUPER EAGLES IS ONE OF A PLAYER WASTING AWAY IN SAUDI ARABIA rather than that of WILFRED ONYINYE NDIDI? Is that what this forum actually believes? Tufiakwa!!!!!!. Well I will beg to differ any day and anytime. It is time for Musa to step aside for something greater.

“…1 good game then 10 bad ones…” – His stats show an average of 1 goal contribution every 4 games

“…Can only score against weak teams…” – Scored 2 goals against the greatest Barca team (and possibly the greatest football team) of all times. Scored 2 goals against a lionel messi (greatest of all times) led Argentina in the World Cup…..these must be weak teams indeed….LMAO

Hahahaha…after all this your rantings….Ahmed musa still remains the highest scoring SE winger of all times (after Odegbami)….he remains the highest scoring Nigerian of all times with 4 world cup goals. when a woman force her self into a mans life. she will live the rest of her life to impress the man, and whenever that man found his match that woman will still have to give way. that is how i see those monkeys begging for a banana that is in the den of the three lions. surely the lions will allow him have a taste of the banana soon after the monkey’s life will be wasted by same lions. a word is enough for the wise. the worst part of the senerio is that most black folks who denies Nigeria bcos of its stat if they look at the mirror they will realise that they are urglier than the urgly condition of the country, yet their parents didnt reject them (onto monkey nor fine but he mama like am) but na thesame monkey later come dey form elephant for tree! na wao for wire road oh.

  • Musa is not playing regularly for his club side. I don’t mind seeing him been introduced in the second half but for now we have good wingers who are fit enough to start the game.

  • Collins id 4 years ago

@lord Amo, how can u phase him out if you where to be in the shoes of rohr? football play is not like a movie script where you can just imagine or fantisize a role for any actor to play. it is game of performance and consistency, to be honest musa has always been out of my dream eagles team aswell, but i have to accept that it was all fantacy. imagine a player comes in from saudi and stole the show from the most expected players by scoring a brace. same player that is the most consistent in about eight years, looking lively and sharpy, showing signs of the more you look the less you see. still ahead of kalu, moses, and ejuke interms of speed, skills and goal scoring even in training. just 27 years old. agemate with unuocho, balogun and omeruo, havnt retired and still the captain. will you just bench him like that based on PlayStation or newspapers? will you accept that kind of treatment if you where to be him? to be fair as far as he is still more familiar to the ball than the others then I am sorry they still have to watch him play. keshi did that with yobo during and after 2013 afcon. but before the world cup he have to reset to default by recalling yobo to the starting 11. my brother let the best legs play nomatter the age or league

    • @Collins id I am glad you said Let the Best legs play which means Musa should not be playing. However I am more surprised at how you contradict yourself by saying no matter the League. Anyway in saying that Musa is definitely not among our top 5 wingers currently in World Football if we take sentiments away from the game.

Thank you and have a good Friday!

  • As much as I respect ahmed musa, I am not a fan of his. For me he is inconsistent in his game. He hardly crosses the ball ( is a bad crosser), although he is very quick, his final balls are really not effective. He made some good plays in the last nation cup and world cup but when it matters most he was no where to be found and thats what you expect from experienced and star players, they show up when they are needed in games.
He is the captain of the team but I don’t think he should start the game.
Paul onuachu this is the time to show yourself.
Looking forward to seeing Chidera Ejuke on the pitch. And akpoguma as well.

    • Abdul 4 years ago

Really? When it matters most? Did you actually say that about Musa?

  • @Sportsfan and @Lord Amo please tell this @Collins id to really look hard at his reasoning. If it was up to him. This inconsistent Musa that only costs us big games with his inclusion will play until he is 90 years old FML.

In saying that I personally feel that @Sportsfan and @Lord Amo you guys are taking it a little light with Ahmed Musa. Lets call a spade a spade Musa has no end Product because of him Osimhen didn’t get 3 assists in the Lesotho game. I mean this so called captain Musa couldn’t even score in a begging net when t’d up by Osimhen, I mean it was an open net Musa still missed. that iss just 1 example, How many more do you guys need?.

How many times has Musa wasted the final pass or over ran the ball out of the pitch or he can’t even control the ball or that so called speed of his. He has no Balance and No end Product, he is an average player in a Saudi Arabian League with Below Average Players. He only chases Money in his career and not improvement or fame. He is everything that we pray and hope our up and coming stars do not emulate or become. His continuous presence in the squad is detrimental to the careers of others what advise will he give the younger players?? that they should chase Money no Matter the quality of the League??? and not improve or develope their skill sets in Tougher and top Leagues?… please guys Musa should be dropped and Wilfred Ndidi made Captain that is what should be done on MERIT PERIOD!!!!!.

How will any team Respect us when our “So CALLED” Captain was relegated to Leicester Under 23. I believe on Merit the competition to lead the line should be between Iheanacho, Onuachu and Dessers that is what any sane coach whose hands are not forced should do merit because they deserve it. At least Iheanacho can Make Leicester City first team on a Regular basis. Can you say the same about Musa???

I rest My Case. if e pain u make e pain u wella wella.

    #MUSAISREDUNDANTINTHESQUAD

    • If our first choice Osimhen is Available then Musa should be dropped period on Merit (Iheanacho, Onuachu and Dessers can play back up to Osimhen). Even if we consider Recent form and we date back to 2years Musa should still have no place in that team.

Musa’s continuous inclusion and presence in the squad is just an example of many peoples frustration with Rohr’s decision making skills.

  • Collins id 4 years ago

@ugo, if musa’s beautifull runs where accomblished by wonderfull final balls or assists, na that one be ballon d oro ba, or what else does players needs to win ballon d oro? Musa,s final balls is not as worst as the rest wingers, atlist in the past two years he acumulated more assist than the others. to be honest, who among the remaining winger don cross ball for osihmen or ighalo to head inside goal? Non of them bro, final ball has been a problem for us since the era of amunike and finidi, final balls is the reason why victor moses couldnt cement a permanent shirt in chelsea, the only players that tries to give more was utaka and osaze. infact its an africa issue, i think its the effect of lack of sound accademy from the grass root. So all are guilty even solomon kalou of ivorycoast. The advantage musa have over the rest wingers in camp is that he plays the wing as an attacker, and always seek for goals with all artitude. U will always see him close to the main striker or even before the main man expecialy in the box. Thats why i still rate him ahead. Ejuke is struggling in a club where Musa is god of soccer! Iheanacho according to report is the poorest player in camp.

  • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

“…but when it matters most he was no where to be found…”
    “…Musa has no end Product…”
“…He has no Balance and he can’t even control the ball, he is an average player…”
“…His continuous presence in the squad is detrimental to the careers of others…”

Yet when things were tough against ordinary Burundi at AFCON, when all the so-called ex-factor players were clueless, it was this same Ahmed Musa and the much maligned Odion Ighalo that bailed us out immediately they came in.

Ahmed Musa – Winger – 81 caps, 15 goals, 14 assists. Nigeria’s highest scoring winger after Segun Odegbami. NIGERIA’S ALL TIME TOP SCORER ON THE BISGGEST STAGE OF FOOTBALL – 4 world cup goals. Even Okocha and Kanu cannot boast of these kind of figures.

Facts dont lie….! Stats dont lie…!

“…Musa’s continuous inclusion and presence in the squad is just an example of many peoples frustration with Rohr’s decision making skills…” Hahahahaha….una never see fraustration…una just start, una go frustrate till them announce una enter coma, shey na fraustration and High BP una still dey see….Rohr is still going to be there till 2022 o…so your suffering continues.

    • @Dr Drey it is only a matter of time before Musa is displaced watch and see. He is redundant I hope he plays so we can kwench this Ahmed Musa debacle once and for all. The guy is useless. Can only score against weak teams. He is a flash in the pan 1 good game then 10 bad ones. that how inconsistent the guy is. Lets look at his Club Career Besides CSKA MOSKOW and Ado Den Haag where he didn’t even stand out much. What is there to write home about. what the 2 fluke goals he scored against Barcelona????

Lets take Ndidi for that Matter what has he achieved. Let me remind you Wilfred Ndidi Made Leicester City Forget about World Cup winning French Le Bleu first Choice Midfielder N’golo Kante. To the point that Most Leicester Faithful won’t dare trade Ndidi for Kante now even if the deal comes with 30 Million Pounds on top of it.

Look Bros Facts is Facts Musa is only a hero is this Shambolic country Called Nigeria because of Sentiments PERIOD!!!!. Other wise the guy won’t get a look in even in a English Championship side Calling a SPADE A SPADE.

If e pain you make e pain u WELLA WELLA JOOR!!!!!

  • we’ve known and tested musa repeatedly, let see what onuachu would do this time, that he has a fresh opportunity, also a time to see the new boys we have invited. England did this yesterday … friendly is an opportunity to jig your team, not just to help players showcase their talent alone… onuachu starts, musa may come in 85 minutes if we are doing greatly

  • D-cardinal 4 years ago

Inasmuch we have plethora of wingers in our rank and more are still coming (Ademola lookman, bright oseyi etc),that does not mean we dont need musa’s experience in the team. His contribution to the team can never be questioned.. I have followed this current Eagles set up keenly to know know that Ahmad musa has rightly earned the respect of other players, the coaches and even the administrators. his leadership qualities on and off the pitch is very much invaluable.my submission on this issue is that since musa is one player that comes up and becomes an instant impact as seen in the previous world cups and nations cups he had played and regardless of where he plies his trade,he should be left unphased for now until after next world in Qatar.Being a gentle man we all know him to be,he will surely call it quit with the National team..leave musa E get why!!
