Musa Promises Golden Eaglets N.5m Per Goal At U-17 AFCON

Super Eagles’ captain, Ahmed Musa was the surprise visitor to the camp of Nigeria’s U17 team, Golden Eaglets at ParkView Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s most capped international admonished the players to endeavour to maintain the rich culture of Nigeria football and also make a name for themselves and their families, adding that he regrets not ever playing for the U17 team in his football trajectory.

“You have to work hard. Listen and obey your coaches if you want to succeed at this stage of your football. Sometimes, I regret that I never played for the Golden Eaglets. You have to make use of this opportunity. You are not the best in Nigeria. Many players out there are better than you. The only difference is that you have the opportunity.

“So, you have to work hard. Pray a lot and be determined to make a name for Nigeria and also for yourselves and your families. Do not miss this great opportunity. I was only given five minutes in my debut game for the Super Eagles, but today I am the captain of the team. I never thought I would someday be the captain of the Super Eagles.

“I promise and I assure you that you will be rewarded with N500,000.00 for every goal scored at the U17 AFCON in Algeria next month. Remember to always play as a team. If you are a defender, play with your mates, same for you that is a midfielder. Do not be selfish as a striker.”

Musa, who won his 109th cap for the Super Eagles in the 2023 AFCON 1-0 away win over Guinea Bissau in Bissau on Monday, added: “Promise me that you will make Nigerians proud. Football is the only thing that unites our country. Whether you are a Muslim or a Christian does not matter in football. Winning is what Nigerians are looking forward to.

“So, go to Algeria, conquer and give Nigerians joy,” he said.

Mr dav u calling ur fellow broda a fool ? We all have different opinios and am of the opinion that Musa is not longer needed in the national team not because of age but in active at club side, when someone isn’t playing regularly it affect s output .you can state ur point rather than insulting him . thanks

@Dav Musa can be charitable that’s fine it’s a choice also he doesn’t have to.
The young boys don’t need money for motivation.Representing their country singing the national anthem before 200m Nigerians at home and the diaspora is a huge factor to this newbies and there’s no bigger motivation than that.
Musa is a great human no doubt and i have so much respect for the super eagle captain. But if he loves Nigeria he should understand that you can only represent your beloved country when you’re still able to physically do so.In other words,we shouldn’t be sentimental because of his generosity and turn a blind eyes to his international call ups because he choosed to be munificent which is a choice and shouldn’t guarantee a place in the super eagles because of his openhandedness.
Musa is a Nigerian and should exercise every right but not fraudulently,it brings bad luck to a team, you can’t be taking a place of a better option because you’re from a politically advantageous part of the country using political power to gain way, that’s not what patriots do,hanging on or clinging to power when you can only offer little or nothing is bizarre.
We should censure quota system and encourage merits in all facet of the country otherwise we would always find ourselves behind.

      • @Dav you should be ashamed of yourself, What value does Musa add to the Super Eagles?.. Are you really a true fan of Super Eagles and want the best for this team? because if you are you wouldn’t be saying Such a thing and insulting someone for saying the brutal truth. Let me tell you bros Musa has been regressing for at least 4 years now and Football is progressing year in year out and the game is becoming more competitive and challenging, a player who has only played 1 or 2 club games since 2022 has no Business in Super Eagles.

        • And For a relegation threatened side in Turkish League?????

One thing with you is you never afraid to say the truth not minding the backlash from morons who never whose senses are beclouded by tribal and religious sentiments. And this is evident in Super Eagles staunted growth

Fake charity, football is team work not individualistic sport. Promising only the goal scorer is an act that can cause division within the team. Musa Yeye charity will encourage players to be selfish. But we know why he’s doing it, to be corny and hypocritical is in their DNA. The mallam should quit the national team and stop taking spaces  meant for young, aggressive players.

  • This is how to be a big brother. No body should politicize or cast a shadow on Musa`s gesture. He only went there to give a very important hint or message. “Take this opportunity seriously because many are out there even better than you without this opportunity. For me, this is the best message you can give lads of this age, in a country where there is no government that truly cares. This was what endeared me to Garba Lawal. He was not a very skillful player like Jay Jay, but he was that man who always gave 100% any day. That was the man who runs for 90 minutes. And people were surprised why he was always on the team then. If they work hard and obey instructions they will beat the name “poverty” and make a life for themselves and their families.

  • Actually, Musa is preparing his route to politics gradually. Don’t be surprised when he ventures into politics. The hullabaloo about his presence in Super Eagles is point blank truth. The idea of Federal Character should be expunged from the selection procedure of the players for our various National Teams to enhance good results.
Ahmed Musa should quit the stage when ovation is loud.

I don’t know why we have blind people running our football…Who are the scouts for NFF?…..Has anyone taken a look at Fred Oyesinma who is an attacking midfielder for Luton in the championship….They are currently 4th on the table….We also have Gabriel Osho who is a defender for Luton…..Fred Oyedinma needs no nationality change as he was born in Lagos and left Nigeria when he was 3….. Peseiro needs to start looking for or midfielders worldwide to plug that midfield which has been an issue for us since Mikel retired…If Iliman Ndiaye who is an important player for Senegal plays for Sheffield in the championship why can’t we try out these players too…..We don’t have too many options in the midfield…
