‘My Players Showed Character Against Mexico’ —Super Eagles Coach, Peseiro

Jose Peseiro has praised the Super Eagles players for showing character despite losing Mexico in an international friendly game in Dallas, USA.

Peseiro took charge of his first game as Eagles coach but could not prevent his side from losing 2-1.

Europa Conference League top scorer Cyriel Dessers opened his goal account, as he equalised for the Eagles after Santiago Gimenez had given Mexico a first half lead.

But an own goal by William Troost-Ekong saw Mexico retook the lead.

And speaking in his post-match press conference, Peseiro praised his players for their impressive display.

“In the first half Mexico was much better than us but in the second half I think we had more balance.

“I am not happy that we lost but I’m happy with the performance of my players because they showed character especially after what Mexico did in the first half. I think in the second half there was improvement.”

The Eagles will be in action in another friendly on June 2nd when they will face Ecuador in New Jersey.

  • The first half performance was really poor but the goalkeeper made some brilliant saves. Overall performance was 5/10

We go again on Friday. Come on Super Eagles

Better go back to the drawing board before you become newspaper coach.

    • I guess you need someone to spell it out to you that this was an interview. Must we always be antagonistic? What wrong has the new coach done already? Gosh!

An Encouraging performance by the SE we go again

  • Our goal and the build up is very encouraging. We still need a creative midfielder.
A combination of Desser and Osimehn will be lethal to our opponents.

If we can’t find a #10, we can try Ademola Lookman.

Chukwueze/Lookman on the wings and Osimehn/Desser attack will be really g interesting.

For goodness sake this coach should retire musa if he doesn’t want to leave voluntarily.

Mr. Pesseiro, the evaluation of your mindset, tactical ability and decision making begins from the next match against Ecuador..
The match against Mexico has further exposed well-known weaknesses of the team (leadership, defence lapses and creativity).
Those home based guys (Ishaq and Faisal) really showed-up..
It’s time to ring changes in the team and let the players know that no one is indispensable..

The coach really tried and Nigeria played a couple of good football. The new coach is tactically okay. He is another Westerhof.

Umar’s goal cancelled out Omeruo’s and sealed Almeria’s laliga qualification.
