Veteran tennis star, Rafael Nadal has strongly defended Carlos Alcaraz following his Miami Open setback.
Recall that American Sebastian Korda defeated Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the third round of the Miami Open on Sunday.
Reacting to the development, Nadal in a chat with Tennis World, highlights Alcaraz’s incredible 16-match win streak earlier in 2026 and labelling the intense criticism against him as “unfair” and “unacceptable”.
“I think we should all congratulate him and be grateful for everything Carlos is doing,” he said.

“He’s giving Spanish sport a level of success that would have been hard to imagine twenty or thirty years ago. Maybe we’ve become used to it lately.
“But I never lose sight of how difficult everything Carlos achieves really is. Worrying about two losses makes no sense, and you can’t ask for more than what he’s already giving.
“No matter how successful you are, everyone has the right to have a day when they feel frustrated or tired. When he sees himself, he probably would have preferred not to show it.
“There was no need to display it; you feel it inside and keep it to yourself.”
