‘Napoli Is Ideal Place For Osimhen’ –Obodo Urges Striker To Stay Put

Former Nigeria international, Christian Obodo, says that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is an ideal player for Serie A club, SSC Napoli. And his comment implies advise to his compatriot to stay put, Completesports.com reports.

Osimhen has been the subject of transfer speculations this summer following his impressive performances for the Partenopei. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in the striker.

Obodo, 38, is a veteran of the Italian league having played in Italy for 11 years, starring for Perugia, Fiorentina, Udinese, Torino and Lecce at different times. He left Italy in 2013 to join FC Dinamo Minsk of Belarus.

Obodo who is now the captain and assistant coach at Sure Sports FC & Academy featuring in the USA’s regional amateur league, United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), spoke glowingly of Osimhen in an interview with an Italian broadcast outfit, 1 Station Radio, implying that the youngster should continue to develop at Napoli.

“I was aware of Osimhen’s potential even before he joined Napoli,” Obodo told 1 Station Radio, quoted by ilnapolionline.com.

“I think this is the ideal place for a player like Victor in addition to the adequacy of the coach.”

The former Super Eagles midfielder added: “Spalletti’s work was relevant and allowed the Nigerian to grow a lot both at Napoli and with the national team.

“I had no doubt about the impact that the former Lille striker would have on Napoli.”

Osimhen scored 14 goals and recorded five assists in 27 appearances in the Serie A in the concluded 2021/2022 season. He also netted four goals and one assist in the Europa League.

Napoli finished third in the Serie A last season with 79 points from 38 games.

    obodo is right, if at all Victor want to leave, let him go to club that is playing in champions league and also fighting for the league cup and not an average club because of money. Hard and making name first, money will come later.
